Suspension problem?

So I rode Mt. Palomar yesterday and even when I would be in full lean, knee out, I would drag my pegs and even my exhaust midpipe.  I do notice that my rear compresses quite a bit in the turns.  If I stiffen the rear would this solve the scrapping of the pegs/exhaust?

Both times I scrapped I was off the bike in a full lean.

Sounds like your springs are too light for your weight.  See my recent post on F4i shock spring though.

is knee dragging too? if you out of the bike well, the knees should be dragging before the pegs do.
the rear shock is most likely too soft if you're anywhere over 150 or so. try to stiffen it up as much as you can.
also...most of the time when you think you're totally out of the bike...you aren't...so pix would totally help you out as far as body positioning.

I was questioning as to why my knees weren't hitting first also.  I weight 185-190 so I think I need to stiffen that up then...I wish the photog's were where I was grinding my pegs to get a picture.  The only ones I haven't aren't the greatest. But here they are.

No where NEAR what I meant by full lean.


Once again...had a damn car AND squid in front of me...:mad:

ok a few things...
1. you will definitely need to get there shock spring to match your weight.
2. you need to get out of the bike much more.
3. as for the midpipe dragging, try flipping the clamp that holds the pipe to the rear peg. that will bring the pipe and midpipe closer to rear subframe and give you added clearance. make sure to compress the rear suspension and unload it to see if anything hits.
4. rearset adaptor plates, cheap fix.
 
so for now, do 2 and 3...and then eventually, you'll need to do 4 and then you'll need to do #1...

Thanks for the input.  I am headed to a shop hopefully this weekend to get my suspension tuned.  The pipe is already on the rear peg...I'll try to move it to the inside of the rear peg...but who knows.  As for rearsets...they are NOT cheap for this bike.  I might be getting a newer bike soon though anyway...

i don't mean rearsets...i mean just the adaptor plates that move them up and back more.
i rode with those for 4 years before i went baller and got a used set of woodcrafts.
if you can...please hit up banner and monte pass for me! i haven't been in awhile and it hurts! muhahahha
