Does everybody's tac jump when they turn the key to the on position?  My tac, pegs all the way then drops back down.  My speedometer jumps way up too, then it goes back to zero.  This is before I even start the engine, just when I turn the key to the on position.  It's not a big deal, I was just curious if anybody else had noticed this on their bike?

A lot of high end sports cars do it too...personally I think it's one of the coolest features on my bike.

Looks better when your gauges are blue and white =)  Or something else besides the stock orange.

Sweet.  My buddy's 98 900 RR does not do that, which is why I was curious.  I agree, once you know it's not something broken on your ECU, it is definitely a very cool little feature.

hahaha, yep - normal function, I think it's real cool too.

I wonder if there is any rhyme or reason - is maybe if you tach is broken this is an easy way to test??

it does that so you can check if anything is wrong or a light is out, like your oil light or something important.. otherwise how else would you know until your bike blew up?

I was wondering if it's part of the ECU's diagnostic's test.  Like a computer doing a boot check.  Kind of like a POST for your motorcycle.

A POST like the BIOS, LOL. That's cool with me, as long as these computers are not running Windows I will keep riding.

haha, yeah that wouldn't be good.  Doing 100+ and get a blue screen on your bike.

I love pressing the on button on my bike just for this reason!
