I am going to take the rims off of my bike to have them powder coated. I have to take them to the powder coating place naked. So, my question is, how hard will it be for me to put everything back together? Will I need to replace the berrings? Has anyone else done this? Any advice will help.

As I know just remember where everything went, and you should be fine, I don't think anything needs to be replaced. The hardest part is probably getting the wheels off the rim.

No bearing replacement needed. But when you do remove the bearings, the slot that there in need to be taped off or plugged somehow so that they will fit back in. Powdercoat has some thickness to it so it will make the hole smaller. Your used to dealing with smaller things though so I think you'll be ok.

You have to get the tires dismounted of course ( they won't hold up to well at 400 for up to 40 min to bake the wheels ) and you need to remove all of the bearings. Be careful removing them and you won't have to replace them but they're easy to destroy when punching them out. The shop you bring them to will know enough to plug the holes to prevent powder from getting on the bearing contact surfaces. If they don't then they really don't know what they're doing and you can send them to me and I'll do them properly for you. My family has been in the business for 23 years so we do know what we're doing.

when you get the bearing out, MAKE SURE they do it gently, dont let them bang the shit out of them or you will have to replace them. A buddy of mine got his rims chromed and they beat up his bearings and had to replace them.

Bearings aren't really that expensive. I would just replace them If I were you especially seeing they are going to be letting your wheels roll smoothly. Don't bother going to honda just find a bearing shop near you and bring in the old ones and they can match them up for you with new seals. It won't be that expensive.

I've never heard of anyone taking they're rims in naked before, you may want to take a change of clothes with you in case people complain.

I'd say wait until you are ready for new tires. Tires aren't meant to be taken off and but back on. Besides, tires only last for about 5k miles anyways... this will give you time to make sure you're picking the right color for your bike. Most shops in my area want between 30 and 50 just to mount the tire per wheel. So that will add up fast.
