Gixxxer1000

Heya I am new here. I do not own a bike yet but plan to sometime within the near future. I am a huge fan of the gixxxer's so I am kind of biased on the bike models. However I do have a lot of respect for honda's great bike's. I am 18 years old turning 19 soon. I am getting ready to move off to college next month to go to Embry Riddle Aeronautical University to become a Commercial Airline Pilot. I currently live just north of Tampa, FL. Next month I will live in Daytona Beach, Florida. I am also a member at gixxer.com. So I am here to gain more knowledge about the honda bikes as well. Nice to be here.

no such thing as a gixxer 1000 for a 19 year old, well when it comes to insurance :D  Especially in florida.  I'm 19 and had a hard enough time getting my f4i insured for a good price!  And to think that's only 600 cc!

So you are 18 and a half? Well, now that you are all grown up here is a secret.  All these Jap bikes are great. All are too fast, all start every morning, all stop well, all same. The differences are subtle, those slight differences make a person a Honda, Yamaha, or Suzuki fan. Buy the one you think is the prettiest.

Have fun in Daytona.

Thanks. As far as insurance goes it is not mandated here in florida zultan for a bike. Am I going to get insurance ? Possibly. I mean it is a smart thing to do incase the bike is stolen or I get in an accident. I am not sure if I am going to do insurance if I get a bike though. I guess it all depends on who you run your insurance through. I may buy a 2008 gixxer 600 or a 750 and then in 2009 when suzuki comes out with the new gixxer 1000 I am going to get the white and silver/ greyish color scheme. So what cbr exactly matches up against the gixxer 1000 ? Thanks

You do need liability insurance everywhere.

If you are a newbee the new gixxer 600 is more than enough bike for you.... My girlfriend has an 04 i will post a pic of it soon.  In all honestly I like riding it almost as much as my CBR. It is very quick and if you like gsxrs i would go with that, they have good resale aswell if you decide to go bigger.  <<<<< I didnt used to like suzukis but my GFs bike has opened my eyes.  (not enough to trade in my honda though) subtle differances again.  However, welcome to the forum.

Not true actually. WA. ST. does not require any insurance what so ever for a bike.

I forgot that Florida doesn't require insurance hehe.  My bad, and yeah us California people really pay the price for insurance when were 19 :D  I was getting quotes everywhere for like $2500 a year luckily I got in through my parents insurance because we insure a lot through this local company.  $600 every 6 months isn't too shappy, but they'll cancel me in a heartbeat if I ever get in an accident or get a ticket.

You remind me of the kid in my MSF course who said his first bike was going to be a Busa 1300, and he didn't even start off in the dirt, so, good choice.

A friend of mine got a busa as his first bike, he however is 27 and that makes a difference.  If a new rider is willing to respect a 1000 than it is ok.  However, if you get a six and say "its only a six hundred"  there are probably only two places that will lead and niether one is good. You have to respect a bike no mater what size.   The main point to riding a 6 instead of a 1000 is, if you get a 1000 chances are you maybe tempted to explore its capabilities well before YOUR time, and it will become more dangerous than the six hundred at that point .  If I was learning to ride again i would get a six hundred CC bike because I dont trust myself enough to learn on a litre bike.
