Rant mode on....

Ok, I dont know about you guys but I'm really tired of these cruiser mother #$%^&*^. I dont know about you guys but I like to break down the walls of cruiser vs sportbike. Personally I think its just dumb. I feel we are united 2 wheel drivers! I tell you though, these cruiser folks dont make that any easier.

I hate to stereo type and lump them all together cause lets face it. Are there jerks on sport bikes ...yes, are there jerks on cruisers ...yes. However, I have recently come into a rash of stuck up, snobby, not gonna wave back, "I'm a cruiser rider" a-holes lately.

Here is what I find ironic.....its one thing if you have that crappy attitude, and you have a custom harley or something. With half these snobs though.....I want to scream at them "hey pal yours says honda just like mine!

Furthurmore........what I like about these Harley riders is that they are now all Christmas Cowboys....they get a bran new bike and leathers for xmas and all of a sudden they are Mr easy rider! Weekend commandos! All of em up here in seattle are software geeks from microsoft that get paid way to much money!!!!! Oh and they are stuck up.

I've had it!

Well, cannot say that I have ran into that problem soo bad around here. I get a wave back from everyone when I am riding.. Now the stepfather is a whole other story. he hates sportbikes and loves harleys and choppers and crap. Recently I bought an 02 F4i and he threw a hissy fit and actually filed for divorce from my mother because I bought a sportbike instead of a cruiser. He told me when I was 16 I was not allowed to own one, and now I am 20. that was 4 years ago and hes still sore over it. Anyways if I were to get a cruiser it would be ok and because I didnt its not. I tried to explain that if I dont fool around then I have nothing to worry about, and hes like freak accidents happen. and I was like well whats the difference if im on a cruiser or a sport bike if its a freak accident. nobody seems to comprehend this.. anyways the point I am trying to make is people stereotype sportbikes soo much its not even funny. I personally enjoy just cruising around and hitting up some mountain twists every now and then. and soon enough going to the track. also just venting here!!!

and with the not waving thing I have noticed that if I dont wave first they dont wave back. whereas sport bikes are kind of mutual its kind of the same time. dont know if thats just coincidince or something else

RIDE ON!!

I am from Sioux Falls , South Dakota which is near Sturgis. There is a huge war here between Cruisers and sportbikes. Everytime a cruiser either sees us or rides by they have to rev there motor or punch it. The only thing i see and hear is a lazy fat bastard barely reaching speeds at an annoyingly loud pace!!!! I am frustrated because its getting really bad. You cant even go to bike shows without worrying that your bike will be shoved over. Its true that there is alot of bikers that have new bikes with all new gear and you see them in your local bank or even a church as a minister. These people are real winners and deserve the respect that they are trying to get. "NOT!". The nice thing is when they role up next to you and think they want to drag race or something. I shift into 3rd gear just to prove that i am untouchable than i blow the grunt right out of there hog!!!!!! People that have chosen to ride sportbikes have chosen to accept technology and have accepted that it doesnt take displacement and the amount of cyclinders you have to deliver a royal @ss whooping!!! Right on!!!! Thanks Nick from South Dakota

We don't have that problem here in Dubai. You hardly see many bikes on the road on a given day but when you do encounter other people either on sportbikes, or cruisers everyone seems to acknowledge the other person, so its all good.

Yup. Most of the crusier riders that don't wave are the CPAs, dentists, etc. at least from my experience. I get more respect from the hard-care Harley, cruiser riders. They'll at least nod their heads. Whatever. I usually initiate the wave and if they don't wave back, I flip the wrist around and extend my middle finger. Makes me feel a lot better! LOL

BTP, don't let it bring you down. You can sleep at night! If they don't wave, oh well. Let it go.

I think I am going to start waving at cars..... Break the barrier there..LOL.

A lot of the guys at work ride cruisers (one even has a $50K chopper) they invite everyone to ride but me because i am on the sportbike.. they all talk to me at work but only cruise with eachother..bastards. Saw them all at Deals GAP.. Toasted them all..

That's it I am waving to trucks too.........LOLx2.

Hey, new to the forum, but been riding sportbikes for about 5 years now. Most of the riders in Georgia are pretty good about a wave or a nod, regardless of what they are riding. There are always a few bad apples, and to tell you the truth there have been times I didn't wave back simply because I didn't see them until it was too late (wide road, etc.). I get sick of the sportbike image too. I have a friend that rides with some cruisers--he invited me to go to Deals Gap with them and the rest of the guys just laughed and told me to make sure and wait at the top for them! We had a good laugh, but really, can guys on sportbikes not have as much fun cruising through the mountains? (OK, maybe not quite as much fun as carving, but you know what I mean)

I cut through traffic once around a slow moving car, got back in my original lane so I didn't piss anyone off, then got rear-ended on purpose at about 10 mph! The guy was driving a Jag, pulled up beside me and said "how did that feel?" I didn't care to deal with it at the time so we went on and I followed him to the daycare where he picked up his son (or grandson, not sure which). I waited to make sure he knew I got his tag number. I talked to a cop about it later, but it wasn't worth pursuing.

I just joined the site also, but have been riding for about a year. Here in Chicago, my friends and I always have problems with cruisers. They never wave back, and alot of times won't talk to us either.

I'm in Kenosha Wi and I'd agree, they hardly ever wave back. Getting tired of the second class treatment from Harley riders!!!

In California we have this mountain called Ortega Hwy. At the top there is a restaurant called Hell's kitchen, mostly for cruisers. This is a very popular hill for all bikes, I tell you, someone dies every weekend.

I have a buddy that went to the darkside and bought a Harley. Its cool, we still ride.

So the other day we were cruising up the mountain. Me first then a buddy with a GSXR, then a gap, then him, then his gf with another cruiser.

Here come these 3 guys on Harleys the other way. I wave... nothing... GSXR waves... nothing... my Harley buddy does not wave... all 3 wave to him.

WTF?????

Is that just lame or what? Then we pop into Hells kitchen and you would think I ran over these people's cats. God the looks I got. It is just too stupid.

I wonder if its jealousy that they just can't handle the power and some young punk can.

i can't say i've had any really negative experiences, but you do notice that the love from other sportbikes is 100% where the cruisers maybe give you 50% of the time (but i do see some that go out of their way - which is always reassuring). i don't have any negative feelings toward the cruisers tho - even got some friends. i know where you guys are coming from tho and it can be frustrating, but i figure i'll be better than that and spread the love with everyone. if they don't give back, it's their loss and not mine.

heck, i'll even wave at mopeds.

YellowJkt's wife here.
I hear ya, regener8ed. I wave at 'em all too. I'm not bike prejudice. I wish I had one of everything. Rode cruisers till about 3 years ago then got a GL1800 (sweet ride for the long haul). I also have a F4i. Unfortunately, I do see a difference in attitudes depending on what I ride. I love it when I'm on one bike hanging out at a rest stop and someone trashes the other. It's usually something like "Goldwings are for old farts" or (if I'm on the Wing) "crotch rockets riders are wreckless punks". You ought to hear the back paddeling when they learn I ride one of each. Too funny! Take care and keep spreading the love.

I am from PA and they just passed the no helmet law. So not only do you have the harley with helmets but the harley with no helmets. The people with harleys that wear the helmets will wave to me but if they don't have a helmet its a given that there not gonna wave. I just feel like giving them the finger but I am not gonna lower myself to there standards. About 2 weeks ago I went to a motorcycle rally and there was tons of bikes there, most were harleys. I couldn't believe all the HOT young chicks riding in on these harleys with old overweight guys. WHATS UP WITH THAT SHIT!!!!!!!! OK I just talked out my rear end but I feel somewhat better.

I live/ride in the Wash DC area and there are all types around here. You got the whole gambit. My roommate and I have sportbikes and my homie up the block has a Gold Wing (that his dad gave him). The guy that I bought my '02 F4i 600 from bought a cruiser, so I ain't hatin on anyone. I am from GA, so it is natural for me to wave. I have to catch myself sometimes, because I'll be in my car and when I see a bike coming, I'm sticking my arm out the window, like they would really notice me!!

Like some have said, you have some that wave (from the other classes) and some that don't. I am usually too busy trying to close the gap with whatever is in front of me (unless it has lights on the top) to worry about it.

The only issue that I have with curisers is Rolling Thunder Weekend. That is the weekend that your patience is really tested. As soon as you think you are in the clear to get your groove on, about 50 yahoos pull out in front of you. You don't want to be disrespectful and make your way through them, but at the same time, you have somewhere to be, even if you have nowhere to be!!

Am I ranting?

All in all, around here, the bike world is like the real world. What is real in this world? I digress.

You have some that are friendly, no matter what.
You have some that are friendly, to "their" kind.
You have some that are friendly, to no one.

I'll wave. If you don't wave back, you suck and I don't. How about that?

Have a great ride and get home safely.
