See the link in my previous reply...you might not want to spend so much time looking at the speedo to see you're at 13.5 RPM and 164 MPH. All it takes is a split second at that speed and because your going over 200 ft/sec and by the time your synapses even get the message to pull the brake, you've already gone close to the distance of a football field!
I learned my lesson and survived and I pray everyone else will be as blessed...

I'll see what mine does at VIR full course this weekend.....I just did the first 500 mile oil/filter change so I'm ready to ride it like it's meant to be ridden...I'm hoping everything's broken in....haha.....thoughts.
And wow about the new R1....I have a friend with a few 98 R1s - and I thought those were pretty fast. I couldn't imagine 100mph in first gear. I just wish you could control that much power on the track. Even these 600's are getting harder to control coming out of corners....
This thing is fast enough for me. I wont' be getting another bike for a while. I was pretty loyal to yamaha until I bought this thing. It's treated me right thus far (only had a week though). I gave up on the whole brand loyalty...a nice bike is a nice bike...they're all nice....I just happened to get a deal on this one and I love the bike. I must admit though...that new R6 is going to be sweet....I just couldn't wait and didn't want to spend the extra 2500 to get it....not a big fan of the pipe on those though...I much prefer the Honda undertail...that shorty coffee can just looks so out of place....what does everyone else think on that?

sorry.... had to make a joke. With my lack of willingness to go to jail, I've only made it up to 120 on my overly crowed I64.

I had my 05 600rr up to 156mph bone stock. Im about 220lbs so not bad. Over that you need to get a stabilizer on it. I just put a full Yosh header back system a power commander and a stabilizer on it. So hope to bring some better news soon.

ive got mine around 162 atleast thats what my digital told and i had a few more to go but let off.so i would say a true reading would be somewhere between 156-160mph.

168 is the most i can get outta my stock '03 600RR...It ain't redlining though, just not enough ass to push through the wind at that point. Could prolly get a little more with a few tweaks. But, as we've repeated over and over here lol, the speedo's prolly off. So i guess that put me somewhere between 155 and 162. Still plenty fast enough to kill me. I've hit the pavement twice doing 65mph (stunting) and i wouldn't wanna hit any faster than that. I'll be the first to tell you that it is possible to get roadrash with a leather jacket on while not actually tearing the leather.

i saw 170 on the spedo, but i'm pretty sure that has to be wrong....anyone ever compared the spedo output with a GPS in the 160-170 mph range to see what the difference is?

While installing my Speedohealer I compared 75PMPH on my speedometer to my GPS and my GPS said 70.5. That would mean 150MPH on the meter would really be 141 if the error ratio is the same.
By the way after the install which went really good and easy my speedo is now right on for all intensive purposes. The speedo healer is a good deal at around $100.
