I want to turbo or supercharge my 2004 600rr, but I would like some info on both if possible. I did a search and nothing relavent came up. Could some one post info such as cost HP est. DIY info.. etc. OR links to manufacturers would be great. THanks in advance.

I have seen alot of people with turbos on their bikes that as their getting on it, the turbo will kick in and flip the bike right over.
Why would you want that much horsepower on a street rocket. If your going to do that kind of modification, you need to get a big ass wheelie bar and take it to the track.
Imagine hitting the ground at 200MPH(OUCH)

extending the swing arm is a must if you go with a turbo, like mentioned above it will filp over on you. bikes with NOS generaly have extended swing arms too and that will destroy your handling.

What's your motivation for this engine killing modification? Are you trying to break the 600cc 184mph land speed record?

thanks for the info...Im not trying ot break any records per say, but if I do I guess I do. Maby I will just go all NA mods. But like I said I just wanted alot of info on it so I could make an educated decision. I also really want carbon rims but for the price they are not worth it to me...But since you guys say turbos are basically a No No, what are the top mods for more top end performance? The bike needs more pull at the top end (IMO) and I'd like to take care of that..First exhaust and a power commander, but what next?

If you want more top end, you're better off selling your 600 and going with a 1000. Not sure why you'd need more top end though...if you're going that fast, you'd be better off doing it at the track or the salt flats.

Your bike is fast just the way it is. If you want to feel a difference then get a power commander. A full slip-on and a K&N air filter. That will open the bike up more. This will be my 2nd season riding and I just put a Micron Slip-on and the power commander on my 2005 600rr and it feels great. Good handling and great throttle response. Just enjoy the bike and she will not disappoint you. Doing a super charger will just put your name in the obituary...

oook... soo enough of the speed bashing and onto some knowledge...
general horsepower mods:
PC-III USB 270.00
Full Exhaust system 1200-1500.00
Milled head, ported, polished - depends
Over bore cylinders
High compression pistons
Adjustable cam sprockets
high compression pistons
forged rods - balanced
forged crank - balanced
HRC cams
HRC head gasket
Shorter velocity stacks (45mm or so)
That should get you into the 120-130 range at the wheel, probably 135 if you do the compression up to around 14:1 and ditch the PC-III and get a motul so that you can control everything on the bike instead of just fuel.
all in all thats about 10-15g's of stuff.

That's rediculous, I'm sorry. Why would you want to spend 10-15K on mods to increase up to 135 HP? You'll dump more into the bike than what it's worth...NEW! Not to mention the time it's in the shop or your garage in pieces and reliability goes right into the shitter.

why do people spend so much fixing up their car (me included), because its a hobby, and It is what we want to spend our money on. but that is alot of money when I could buy a 1000rr but then you sacrafice handling due to weight.,. Its all about HP to wieght. thanks alot sodamninsane. Alot of stuff in that list i will look at, but I dont think i'm too comfy with that high compression for such a small gain ya know?
and the bike may be fast enough to some of you, but not to me. plus if it was fast enough why are you buying exhaust, power commander etc..because you want it faster..

you are right, and wrong. i agree that a totally custom 600 would be more impressive (to me) than a stock 1000. big plus for fixing up the 600. but you couldn't be further from the truth on your 1000rr bad handling thoughts. why do you think the 1000rr is a bad handling bike???

alot of people buy the exhaust for the sound and then the power commander to make the bike run right for the new exhaust.
as far as the customization list, forget it. you obviously need a new bike. because if you can truely outride your 600rr then you need a rc211v. ill be looking for you battling it out with rossi and hayden on speed channel in the near future.

in all honesty i respect everyone opinions on here, and yes I can ride pretty well im not the best nor the worst on a bike. But im not saying the 1000 is bad (thats a relative term), but look at any bike shoot out and alot of the times you see the 600's making beter lap times because they are lighter and easier to control. so its bad in a relative term, but no doubt its a power house...but just because you can ride a bike to the max doesnt mean you can be a pro racer, I go to scca and run top times in my class with very underpowered cars(stock 1985 corolla)(stock 1984 300zx)but youll never see me racing f1....and that is a good point about the exhaust, and the power commander but I know alot of people do it for the performance end too, no one pays hundreds to thousands of dollar for sound if there were no performance gains ya know.

i see what you're saying, but i must apologize. it came across in your above post that you were talking down the 1000rr's abilities and talking up your ability to outride your bike. my post probably came across rather rude because i think i misunderstood you. sorry.
and i agree that alot of people can ride a 600 faster than they can ride a liter bike, especially on certain tracks. i think that the performance gains that you are looking for can be found for a relatively reasonable price. i would first buy a high-quality light weight full exhaust system with a very high flowing air filter. combine that with a power commander and dyno tuning and you should have a bike that performs to your liking. another option would be a gearing change. maybe even a 520 conversion (to eliminate some rotating mass=allows engine to rev quicker) and maybe even some lighter weight wheels. and don't forget to either set-up your factory suspension or upgrade to a better performing set-up. proper suspension tuning will decrease lap times more than you think.
i would definately advise against turbo or supercharging. the power would be too on/off for consistent lap times and the street manners would be unbearable (all my opinion, of course.) if you should feel the need for more power i would definately recommend an engine build up over bolt on items. you may want to contact metalscorpio (sorry for putting you on the spot!) he has a very nicely built all-motor 1000rr and might be able to give you some direction if you should decide to tear into the engine. good luck.

nizmo. I'm sure you can push the motor to much more... I've seen SAE formula teams pull the restrictor off there motors (pretty well built 600cc with custom intake, exhaust, high comp. pistons, rods, crank, cams, engine management (motul)) and push them to the 140's with minimal engine tuning... yeah it's a lot of money. The real problem your going to run in to with all of this stuff is reliability... you can't possibly run a 14:1 compression ratio and expect the motor to last for 12000 miles... just wont happen.

again thanks for all the replies..and nine2nine its all good, I assumed you took my post the wrong way (I would have to now that I have re-read it). I guess ill do the basic mods like most people and be happy... Ive never owned a honda before but I love it, so Ill do those mods and see where I stand..ohh also whats a 520 conversion(may be a noob question but hey Im not a mechanic, just a rider.)

Is this true? And if it is, why havent i heard more about it? That's 750 territory!

its just a conversion to a narrower chain and sprockets. they weigh less and it takes less power to turn them so more power is transfered to the ground (less power lost in the drivetrain) and it also revs quicker.

sweet...Ive only taken the bike to the drag track cuzz here in houston its very hard to get on the track..so Ive just taken my cars..Not to say I dont know some super hard and fun rodas here. I want to go to texas motorsports ranch but its 16,000$ just to be a member

the new r6 does not have 140 hp.. it's like 125 @ the crank... which is 110-115 @ the wheels

No the new R6 does have 140hp....They have 3 r6's now, the yzf which is like the f4i, then the R6S which is like our RR's it's the 05R6 ,and then the new bad boy with a 20k Rpm redline 140hp.

And as for the guy who started this thread, the others above made a perfectly logical solution. Why dump all that money if you want that much more power just go buy a litre bike and call it good.

i actually went and priced the 1000RR today(11,500 what do you folks pay where your at for new ones?)..I am probably going to get one in the next few months..Ill keep everyone updated, but ill keep the 600 for track racing..

you've got to be kidding me right?? they said it rev'd to 17.5, it actually revs to 16.7, and it def does not make 140 hp... the highest dyno run I've seen is 117 at the wheel. damn you gotta read more or somethen.

My friend just turboed his 900rr for about $2500 including everything, hes hoping for 200 on pump. Everyone keeps telling him is going to kill himself and is just going to be a wheelie machine but thats just stupid. If your a good rider you know how to keep a wheel on the ground when needed. I say go for it if you got the money and skills to ride
