yes but all those millions of posts dont fully explain pulling the hose off of the gold diaphram on the airbox through the left fairing and plugging it completely enough

Flapper Mod 101 This dude was gracious enough to do the flapper mod and take some pics.
I fully removed my flapper because 1) I'm not running the stock exhaust 2) my bike ran better with it off and 3) I like taking off bits that the government feels compelled to make Honda put on. Unless you have the urge to completely disassemble a lot of shiznit (tank, radiator, ram air ducts, air box and teeny-tiny screws that you can't see) then just disable it by plugging the indicated hose. If you are blown away by the difference in performance then you can always remove the entire thing later. And if you don't notice any difference then it takes all of 5 minutes to put it all back.

If I had to do it over again it'd probably take an hour or so - but at the time I didn't know about the "secret" screws that you have to pull out and it took about 3 hours to take off -- another 45 minutes to button back up.
I don't personally see the need for a power commander for just the flapper mod ... the FI compensates for a wide range of variables and mine runs fine without it. And I'm not trying to sell you anything unlike most shops
