I've recently stepped up my riding skills a little.  There is a local road (Montezuma Valley Rd for anyone in So Cal) that is really technical and I've gotten faster and more important smoother the past few weeks.  I ordered a full suit that should be here before next weekend and I know that will allow me to be more confident and possibly more faster/smoother.  My question is what's first for mods?  I've done mostly cosmetic; flushmounts, fender elim., blah, blah.  I don't know where to go first for performance.  My first consideration is exhaust, is there something I should consider before that?  Here's my thoughts on an order for parts over the next year or so:
1. Full exhaust (akra)
2. Breaks (brembo)
3. pciii
4. quick shifter
5. suspension (ohlins)
6. wheels (merchinisi)

Get your suspension tuned to your weight and riding style. You will notice big difference. $35,  in my oppinion this is the best bang for your buck.

how much do you weigh in full gear
the 1000rr is notorious for having springs especially in the forks that are too soft to set correctly
your absolute first thing to do is upgrade your suspension

at the least consider ohlins springs for the front
and a penske shock for the rear
when you really start to get faster then you will notice the suspension change a lot more than a new exhaust

the front fork springs in a 1000rr are .8kg/mm
most riders require a 1.0kg/mm spring to get proper setup

just food for though

next you might consider a gearing change,
you will notice a 520 conversion 15/43 gear change more than a few extra horses

breaks
you dont need brembos yet
go to steel lines and good HH pads

filters
extra couple of horses thats it

quick shifter
totally unnecessary especially for the street

same with the ignition module
those two should be some of your last mods

the wheels
good idea any reduction in rotating mass will make an immediate feelable improvement

I would get the Marchesini wheels. They make a big difference if you can afford them. I'm waiting to get mine. A little pricy but worth it.....i'll let you know how they work out. You might want to consider a Slipper Clutch makes for a smoother ride when down shifting....good luck
