+1 on that. :)
Take it very easy at first whatever you do. You don't want to loop it, it should not be difficult to do that since you weigh 150 and have a 170+hp motorcycle...
Be carefull!

ha man dont feel bad,
ive been riding for 30 years and i dont make it a habitdoing wheelies. just leave it in first gear cover the rear break and start out slow and short then progress on to a little more and when you get that then you can start thinking about changing to 2nd. just keep in mine when the front tire lifts you will be traveling about 55 mph unless you clutch it and bring it up soon.the bad part is if something goes wrong at the end of first gear you will be doing about 97 mph and that is a fast hard crash and things get torn up. be carefull

Forst gear will bring it up easily arond 30. Just hit the gas (not all the way, just about 1/4 to 1/2 twist). The problem is that 1st has a lot of power and you can flip it.
Try second, going about 45mph. Accelerate moderately and WHILE accellerating, tap the cluth in real quick and release. It takes a little getting use to, but it brings it up smoother than 1st gear.

Agree with that one. BUY ANOTHER BIKE to do that crazyness on. So you will not hurt your ego or your wallet.

You really haave to have a feel for your bike. Mine will stand up in the bottom three gears with very little effort at all. 1st will give me a roll on wheelie without even trying. 2nd and 3rd you just get a feel for when the tach sweeps 7-9k and the bike starts pulling hard. I have a -1 in the front and the 3rd gear wheelies got a couple feet higher after installing that. Wheelies are never a "good" idea, and I have a friend who just looped a new ZX-10R with a whopping 147 miles on it. I never recommend 1st gear wheelies or clutching up, especially on '06-'07's. 2nd gear power wheelies are much smoother and easier to control. Always....ALWAYS cover the rear brake and keep an eye on your speed. 2nd gear will yield you a "set-down" speed of over a hundred miles and hour, which is a pretty fast when things start to go south. The bottom line is these bikes warrant respect, and if you don't give it to them they will definitely take it. My advice is never gamble what you are not willing to lose.

im not tryin to be rude or any thing .. i swear i dont even care if u do wheelie or not .. . but why u wanna do it.. it doesnt mean cuz ur experienced enough in riding that its time for wheelie....if its about attention .. comon guys we ride a kick ass bike that realy make every one look without even snappin a wheelie at them . my point is .. ride ur bike as it meant to be so u dont feel sorry afterward.... it only takes 2 seconds for the bike to whobble and fall ...jsut be careful...

I've been wheelying for about a year now and honestly all of these guys are right, you will loop your bike..atleast once...we do have an extremely attractive bike so you do not have to wheelie to get attention, but since you do want to learn I would prefer to tell you how to do it the right way instead of letting you go out there and loop it. Instead of giving you a step by step How-To i'm just gonna tell you where to find the information. The first thing you want to do is go buy Kyle Woods and Matt Gorka's "Level X Wheelies Level 1"... I learned how to do wheelies before watching this DVD but it gives you great information such as set up of your bike and riding positions. Don't just watch the DVD and think you're gonna be rocking 12 o'clocks in a day, it takes time, a lot of it and probably a new clutch...watch the DVD and practice practice practice...that's all it takes.

I agree. Ride for the pure enjoyment of riding. There are far too many risks.....IDIOTS in cars than needing to wreck your bike doing a wheelie. Read this post and tell me if you will reconsider doing your wheelie.

I understand what your going through man, wheelies are fun. But if you haven't figured out when the front lifts after riding your bike for a few years, ride it some more. As you learn your bike and get more comfy on it, you'll accelerate a bit harder one day and up she'll come. It'll scare you and you'll chop the throttel. Then you'll think....Wow that was fun! And go do it again. It's a steady process and lots of practice. cover that rear brake and be gentil to your fork seals! I like 2nd gear clutch ups myself, and their is plenty instruction from way better guys than me in the stunters area. Have fun man!

Think of how fast we ride and then this guy, after riding for 20+ of years, dies going 35-40 mph because of a stunt WITH A HELMET!! Think twice, act once.

Good Luck..... Riding this bike for 2 years and asking how to wheelie your bike means you havents learned your bike yet and i'd personally consider if it's worth the risk.......

Dude. Just go with what you are comfortable with. Good for the bike/ bad for the bike .. whatever. On a 1k, you can wheelie in 3rd, 2nd, 1st, all day long. You folks that advocate clutching it up over powering it are crazy. Clutching it up brings it up instantly! Powering it up at least is a bit slower.
On a 1k, 2nd gear, 30, 40, 20 mph, close the throttle all the way, the front springs will compress, as soon as they hit the bottom, ROLL (NOT SLAM) back on the throttle - back about to where the throttle was right before you closed it. The front will hop right off the ground a few inches. I would do these little baby power wheelies for a while till you get comfortable. You will know when its time to start working on clutch wheelies. I ride with dudes with 1K's that NEVER use the clutch. I ride a 600 and I just about exlusively use the clutch. Its all about you bro. Just do a little at a time and the more you do them, the less scary they will become and the more you will understand what is going on. Youll get it. Just do it in a safe place (like somewhere that if you fall off, you wont get run over). And take your time.

I hear standing up makes it easier.
I squeez my knees together with the tanbk in between.
Funk the clutch. There cheap to replace when you need to. So until then have fun.
Take off your fairings and add frame sliders.
HAve fun,

It will come, like the guy said above, just ride more. I did my first wheelie by accident. Meaning I really didnt' mean to do a wheelie. I was just wanting to hit the throttle as I got more and more comfortable with the acceleration of the bike I began to hit the throttle faster and more wide open. All of a sudden the front wheel goes up. Just do it in small incriments. I have seen plenty of videos of people who flip their bike. Also be prepared. Know where you right foot is, practice letting of the throttle, if you don't you just may end up with a flipped over bike and maybe some injuries to go along with it. Baby steps, whats the rush.
As far as why do a wheelie, because you can and it is kinda fun. Why take a corner to drag your knee. Why do alot of things. It does take a certain amount of skill to do a wheelie, not as easy as it looks. But once you have learned it seems pretty easy to do. Just know that all kinds of accidents may also happen.

Finally!!!! I was able to go out on the bike yestarday for a couple of Hours before going to school(Its been raining here in Miami for the past 4 days/ no riding with wet roads) I started with the power roll on method and at first nothing would happen, as i kept riding i started using different methods. The reason why nothing happen is because i was not giving it to much gas. i was going about 30-35 (first gear) let go of the throtle and then back againg with a little more power nothing big. The front wheel came up about 3-6 inches and came back down smooth. But this happen as i was going home so really i only got the front tire up like 2-3 times. But something is better than nothing ill keep on practicing, i feel a litle more conrftable now, BUT STILL GOT ALOT OF WORK AND ALOT OF PRACTICE.
If there is any more tips please let me know i would gladly use it if it SAFE
i wana thank all of you who posted on this poll

Its probably already been said but... Be careful do them in first. So much power makes it simple to flip.
