...dontcha wish you could get a closed course!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJheuVMVvyo The intro is lame but the riding is hardcore.
I WANT TO KNOW WHERE THE HELL ARE THOSE CAMERA SHOTS ARE COMING FROM? Can anyone help? There's too many damn angles and I can't tell where the hell the cameras are!

The vid is a few years old, but still one of the best amature jobs I've ever seen done. Looks like they used wide angle bullet type cams, probably mounted on brackets mounted to the bike at various points since it never changes perspective of the bike or rider. Very sweet.

Is it just me, or was he off the throttle for the first half of the corners, then back on it?

Huh, I would really like to know where that was... The twisties where I live tend to be about 6k or 7k about sea level. I have tried to get my front end up like that out of corners on my 954 but it just doesnt want to happen(Ive got a tooth down in the front too). I would like to ride some canyons and not have to deal with little if any power loss due to the altittude!
I thought the vid was pretty cool. Made me want to go rip it up!!

I have everyone of those videos downloaded to my mp3/video player. I watch it in the truck, when I work my night job, and never get sick of them.

Yeah, the vid is sick as hell.
Moto, are you clutching? I can't imagine not being able to get that front wheel up on a 2nd gear corner! Are you in 4th? Bring your RPM's up, gears down. Utilize that RPM range and you'll be cracking wheelies out of the corners all day long.
For gawds sake though, learn/do that stuff somewhere other than a blind corner!

7k is the sweet spot for both the 929 and 954. No clutch needed, but it definitely makes it easier and consistent.

Oregon is where this one was filmed.

I have no problems getting it up around my home town. Like I say, when I get up in elevation, it really takes quite a bit of power way. I have had it up to about 9K and wow... HUGE power loss.

Where are you (elevation)?
If you find yourself regularly traveling into these areas, a Power Commander is not only a cool gadget, but it would become a very practical accessory. Look into it.

Wow that was nice. There is something about the R1 that makes it so beautiful

Yeah the R1 is definitely a proven machine. What's up with your signature?

My town is about 4700 but the rocky mts are about twenty min from my house. It is bad ass! (other then the loss of power). I think that the only vehicles I have been in that dont seem to be effected by altitude are turbo'd. My good buddy took his gsxr 1K down to Florida from here. He basically told me he messed his pants because the bike ran that much better. Keeping the front end down was actually a problem.

Power Commander.
So, good news! I went on Dynojet's site and while looking at the cool gadgets AKA Power Commander I found nothing that said it will compensate for altitude. Funny thing is, I have a PC and it is tuned... You must not understand the concept of elevation and power loss at 823ft above sea level. You should do yourself a favor and ride at a high altitude before givin me sh!t about this.

No ones giving you shit. I simply made a suggestion, with everything you posted how the fvck am I to know what you have/haven't tried?
I'm very well aware that in high-altitude environments there is less oxygen to go around. That means you're running rich on fuel, lean on oxygen no matter what. If a PC and a gawddamn remap can't help you then I don't know what to tell you.
Sell your bike.

It should be noted that any internal combustion engine will run optimally in an oxygen-rich environment. Even with changes, your engine will never run in the mountains like it would in Florida.
Also, if you have a PC and you tuned it while in your garage it's certainly not gonna be the same map for mountain twisties, now is it?
That is all.

Um, if the bike is FI the ECU will compensate as best as it can for changes in elevation. No matter where the bike is tuned, atmospheric pressure will play a large role in power loss. At sea level, there is 14.7 pounds per square inch of air, but at 10,000 feet above sea level there is 10.2 pounds per square inch so there is less air availabe for the engine to use, so even with the change from a 4700 to a 9000 elevation you will notice the loss in power and there is really nothing you can do about it...
