Where is the cheapest place on the West Coast to buy a 2005 Honda CBR 600rr

Do you know how some people go out and buy a bike right away because they lack hapiness in their life. That's not me. I research tirelessly for hours before I make my decision. In Seattle the majority of sport bike riders tend to be in the construction industry. The average age of the riders seems to be early 20's. A new trend in Seattle is a massive influx of Asian sports bike riders. They tend to buy the biggest and best bike as well as the most expensive equipment.

I don't fit the demographic at all. I'm 29 years old. (above median age of rider) I do not work in construction and I'm not Asian. I grew up in a neighborhood where every kid has a mini bike, go kart or Honda trail bike. I rode them all. I promised my mother that I would take the motorcyle safety course and I did.

Now it's time for a bike. I was set on the Yamaha R6 but everyone under the sun has one in Seattle. The only cars I've owned have been Honda's. So after a brief introduction to my local dealer and sitting atop both the R6 and the 600RR I've decided on the 600rr. After 7 years of psychotherapy (Psychology) I still have a need for speed. After having a Jet Ski throughout the 90's I need something faster. My mother always said she knew one day I would have a motorcycle.

What excites me most about motorcycles is the idea that I could be moving so fast and then suddenly be dead within an instant. There is nothing more satisfying than cheating death. I realize most people reading this are going to think that I'm crazy. I'm not the idiot who drops a bike or needs to buy a new helmet because I wiped out being stupid. Leave that to the construction workers who overpaid for their bikes. Which brings me to my main question.

Where is the cheapest place to get a 2005 CBR 600RR? I can fly out to Tennesee at get one for between $7,100-7,200 out the door. But I have to ship the bike back to Seattle. The dealerships in Seattle have way too many construction workers who pay sticker and then all those B.S. assembly and service fees on top of that. i remember when I bought my Jet Ski in 1991. It was a Kawasaki/Yamaha motorcycle shop/ Jet Ski shop. These guys would sell their mother if they could take her for a buck. I missed out on the $200 Honda bonus bucks in July.

Are there any wholesale Honda dealerships in California? The only question remaining for me is wheather I will buy a 2005 or 2006 Honda CBR 600RR...

I also live near Seattle and like you I looked for hours and hours and made countless phonecalls all over Washington and Oregon and as far as Idaho. The cheapest place by far I found to deal with was in Burlington, WA called Steel Dreams. Their websight is www.steeldreamswa.com and I would be more than glad to put you in touch with the guy I dealt with there. Mind you I did walk in with cash money in hand and bought a 2005 CBR 1000rr RepSol and a 2005 CBR 600rr Tribal at the same time so that may have played a little into the equation but all in all these guys were really good to deal with and they arent that far from you. I'm a little ticked that I didn't buy a bike with the additional $200 Honda bonus bucks. That would make these bikes $200 less than the above price. To get these prices you just have to show up at the dealership and take the bike home.

Are there any dealerships on the west coast who can match or get close to these prices? Motorcycle dealerships are never your friend. However, with the internet it has become much easier to get a better value.

These two dealerships are exceptions to the rule because they clearly mark their prices and operate like a wholesale business.

I do not have any delaers for you to try on the west coast but I'll relate my purchasing experience. I bought my Honda from a local dealer by applying the following tactic. I got the names and numbers of five or six local dealers and called them asking to speak with their Internet Sales guy. I told him/her that I could purchase the bike from Southern Honda for $XXXX and if I include $YYY for my expenses to get the bike, my total OTD cost would be $ZZZZ. I then asked if he/she would match it or come close and include something like a warranty, gear, free services etc. On the fourth call, I spoke with a dealer who took my name and number, went to run some numbers and called me back saying he could do this deal (sell it for $ZZZZ) if I concluded the sale before month's end (it was the May 27th). All it takes is a little bit of persistence. Good luck.

There was a $200 Honda bonus bucks or rebate for the month of July on the 600rr. Honda may have another rebate like that one. Thanks for your feeback. I've already thought of doing the same thing. I will be patient. In Seattle there's around 15 Honda dealerships. I'm waiting for the 2006 model to come out next week. I was also considering faxing all of the dealerships asking them to fax back their best offer. Whoever gets closest to the lowest available price gets the sale. I will consider your tips. the places you listed in tennesee are cheap as hell! the lowest prices ive seen in california are at labikebargains.com and they sell them for 8,699 out the door. i think i need to move to tenn.

Glad I could provide negotiating information for all Honda buyers. You are not obligated to factor in transportation costs getting a bike from lets say, Tennesee. The out the door price is what they have to match or get close to. You should also apply an asshole discount for having to put up with nickle and dime bike shops. This should get you at least a $250 discount, lol.

Nice! I paid $9000 OTD but that did included state sales tax. I have seen here that OTD some times does not include sales tax since in some states people pay sales tax when they buy their plates.

The quote I gave $7,077 out the door does not include sales tax. So add sales tax to that figure for your state and you have a higer cost. When I said out the door, I meant out the door price minus any nickle and dime fees. The above figure includes title though, but not tax and/or licensing.

Just make sure that they don't pull the old bait and switch on ya. The place where I got my 05 had a sticker for $7688. When I went it and told the guy I was interested, he came back and asked me if I was interested in the R6 or GSXR600, and that they would probably have an easier time financing me on one of those bikes, which of course were not stickered as low as the Honda. Grant you, that my credit score was barely rated "Good" and not "Great". I just got the feeling that they were maybe trying to bring me in with the low Honda price tag and then make a bigger sale. Just stick to guns.....Damn!! $7200 out the door, I thought I got a pretty good deal.

west coast you aren't gonna find a good deal. In the bay area of cali if you dont get your bike by may, they wont even have them. Plus our sales tax is like 8.5%, so tryin to get a 600RR out the door after all taxes and fees under 10k is pretty hard.

I also got gap insurance and extended coverage, roadsize assistance, 5 years and shit, 1500 dollar plan for like 200 bux. I have worked with all the bike dealers in the area, and dude that sold me the bike is my homie, used to work with him at the yamaha/kawasaki dealer, now hes at the honda/kawi/ktm/bombadier/toyotamarine dealer. I get extra discounts and shit on everything. My old employee discount was 5% over cost, wish i still had that.

Mine with everything was just under 10k out the door, and they only got 2 tribals all year, tons of black, tons of red. You can get those cheaper, the other dealer would sell 7299-7500 for blue or red for the 2k4 last year plus tax/license/setup. I paid no setup fee, none of the handling fees, just bike price, tax, licensing etc. And this month my bike insurance dropped from 211 a month to 14 bux a month, cuz i found out that since its under 10k OTD i dont need comp because i bought gap insurance, so if i drop it or total it, the bike is totally paid off, so i am saving 197 dollars a month on insurance til next may.

If you plan on getting a black or black/tribal, you are shit outta luck in cali, they are all gone as of may/june

I bought mine ('05 CBR 600RR) $10,650 OTD with Gap, 5 year warranty and all fees included, in June.
