Seriously, I wonder what would happen if I bought that SMS system but rigged up a series of C4 to it as a motorcycle bomb, then when someone steals it. BOOM, take out the theifs.

I wish I had known about Gap Insurance.  I paid cash for the motorcycle and I can't afford the comprehensive on it as easily as I can an expensive tracking system.

MAN......I'm really sorry to read about your bike.  I just bought my new 07 last week and have been very paranoid about where I park it.  Bought a chain and lock for it, but hear that those get cut in a minute.  Heard about a special chain, some Kryptonite chain or something which is almost impossible to cut, but it's also impossible to carry so it defeats the purpose.  Anyone have any other suggestions on how to tie it up?  I went out last week and tied it up to my friend's bike, sure makes it harder to pick up, right?

Anyone on here saved their bike by having Lojack on it?  I thought $600 was steep to get it, but maybe it's well worth it.  Any comments or suggestions on how we can save our bikes???

First sorry to hear about your ride man that sucks, I just wanted to let everyone know the should get Lo-Jack. I have it on mine and it rocks. I have 5 sensors hidden throughout my bike and they are consantly putting out a signal. Anyway if the bike is stolen they track it by radio frequency (not gps) Because radio goes through buildings and structures. It was like 700 bucks installed and they garuntee recovery in 24 hrs. or they will give you 5 grand..

I had my F4i stolen about a year and a half after i had it.  I didn't actually see but the same guys got about 3 other bikes in my apt complex.  One guy actually saw 3 guys hop out of a pickup and just man handle his bike into the back and burn out.  He was on the 3rd floor and bout the time he got down they were gone.

I had been payin insurance to my dad cause he had me on his policy.  Well when my bike got jacked i found out i hadn't had insurance for the past 4 months.  My pops had been takin my insurance money and spending it on crystal and coke.  Yeah niiiiiice.

I still owe the loan company like 14 grand now with intrest.  But i aint payin that sh!t.  I just havta to pay for my next bike cash down.

Hey bjtoth1,
was that $700 a one time charge, or do you have to pay monthly fees to keep your bike active, or how does that work?  Do they charge you if you ever need them to look for it?  I'm thinking of getting that, but cannot afford to pay them monthy anything to keep my bike protected.

Please let me know...........Thanks.

err whats GAP insurance?  I bought full coverage insurance (comprehensive) shouldn't and wouldn't that replace my bike if it was stolen or wrecked?  What is the point of full (comprehensive) insurance then?

Gap insurance covers the differance between what you actually owe on a loan and what the actual market value of the bike is as determaned by the insurance company at time of payoff.. So if you owed 10'000 on your loan and you bike was only valued at 7500 the Gap coverage would cover the other 2500.. At least thats how i understand it.. I went with the gap coverage just because my 07 is my first bike and i could easily see my self totaling it out and didnt want to get stuck making payments on something i aint got... Hope that helps... Sorry about your bike dude... Karma is a mother ****er so they will get theirs in the end...Best of luck..

Hmm GAP insurance sounds fishy like buying house insurance.  Looks like buying house insurance doesn't cover fire, flood, hail, tornado, strong winds, squirrels, insects, etc, etc.

I bought FULL comprehensive insurance.

If that don't cover the FULL price of the bike I sure won't be paying anyone else if the bike got stolen or totaled.  I can live with bad credit :)

It's bulls**t like that, that makes decent law abiding citizens commit insurance fraud.

House insurance COVERS everything, bike insurance covers EVERYTHING....if FULL coverage.

But I guess not.
