most of my buddies are gettin bikes now, I've only had mine for a few weeks, and they all seem that it's best to shift at redline-like all the power is right at the line. I guess I don't really have anything to back my opinion, I could check some torque and hp curves I guess, but I think the most power is made 1 or 2 thousand rpm under redline. like I said, I could search for some curves but I thought I'd see what you guys' opinion is on the matter.

I think you are generally correct. Since these bikes are made to race, and no track is the same, no corner is the same, it is desirable to have over rev. You make "peak power" around 2-3 grand below your redline, but that power is usually consistent right up to the line. So, for instance, my 03 RR has the limiter set around 15,2 I believe. Its peak numbers are around 11-13 I think. but it pulls just as hard at 13, 14, 15 untill the limiter cuts into the fun. So, if a corner is coming up, youve hit the peak power number and you still have a ways to go You can use that power right up to the limiter instead of having to shift up, then get on the brakes and be shifting down.

I hope this makes sense, Im a bit tired, but I have done a LOT of reading hahahah... if its incomprehensible... shoot me please, then I will try to make it better :S

take it easy,

Chris

P.S. it should be fairly easy to find a power chart... I know motorcyclist magazin (I think) has a lot of numbers in the back of thier mags all the time.

IF YOU are new dont worry about peak power just ride it then when you can ride really good you'll find out where the power band is buy typically the power band stats at 8000
