Your battery is a sealed type battery and if it will not hold a charge, it probally just needs replaced! The maintence free batteries are also " fix" free...sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Most of these batteries have a life of probally 2-3 years depending on conditions and use.

Either your battery wasnt " initialized" ( fully charged ) properly or you have a charging system problem. Regulator rectfier most likely... do this test...with the seat off start the bike and put a OHM reader on the battery connection ( 1 pos and 1 neg) and you should be getting at least 12 volts...rev the engine up to ....5000 rpm?? or something in that neighborhood.... so if ithe voltage isnt going up substantially or at all..there is your problem ( these values are approx...you need to confirm with a Service manual for the actual values required..)

I'd recommend a battery tender for winter and summer too. I just got a new battery, i hooked the O-ring type clips to the battery and all, just plug it into the wall whenever you're not riding it. Maybe you already know this, but should you happen to be riding and you can't start your bike, do NOT use a car to jump the battery, the car battery and bike batteries have different voltages and this will ruin the battery for good. Sorry i'm not much help.

Thanks for the help sirlimpzalot and BartyBizzle. Once I get my bike put back together I will check the charging system. Ive got it all torn apart to get it stunt ready. Hopefully it will all work out nice and cheaply....

thats funny, i just bought my f4i used, and the guy told me he put a new battery in it in august, but said he keeps the battery charger plugged in when hes not riding because the clock burns the battery up in days..sounded fishy, and sure enough, a week after i got it, battery dies on me..didnt have a plug in the storage unit to plug the charger in, but i was still starting it up every day to keep the battery going..guess it didnt matter...well i had the battery replaced a week ago, and so far so good..
