The 95 900rr I got was sitting for at least 3 years. Believe it or not, the battery charged up and the lights fired up. I tried to crank it over but when I hit the start button but the relay just clicked. I want to try and start it before I rebuild it but have a few problems. All of the stock electrical connectors are there and hooked up I think except one. Under the seat to the rear of the battery, there is a rubber boot thing with a few small harnesses. Where do these go? One of them is cut but the wires (2 or 3 in a sleeve) are long. The only thing I can figure is that I am missing the electrical "alternator, pulse" (from the partsfiche PDF) from under the camchain cover on the right side of the engine. It has a connector that comes out the rear of the cover. Does it go to that when I get it? I can't find any other open connectors.

Also, I just hooked up a jumper to connect the battery as the negative cable is gone. Where does the neg connect at the motor/frame? At the starter? or........?

Thanks

The right side is the clutch side on my 94. The lift side is where the stator/generator is. There should be three wires that come from there that go into a connector that has the three wires from the stator and a positive and negative wire all of which go to the rectifier.

There is also the starter motor link behyind the battery on the right side of the bike. That unit is covered with a rubber boot that covers the links from the positive side of the battery, and also hase a 30 amp fuse in it. Double chack that that fuse isn't bloen. That will keep the bike from turning over. The negative battery cable goes into the center rear of the motor. Under the motor toawrds theback. It is bolted into the block.

According to the Honda repair manual I have, the one with three wires should be the Kick stand switch. If you are missing the switch by the stand... You need to connect Green/white wire with Green to close the connection...

4 wire is the fuel cut relay... Black wire=These control ignition switch(with chassis ground)... BLACK/BLUE=fuel pump relay to fuel pump.... BLUE/YELLOW=wire between the pump relay and spark unit.... YELLOW/BLUE=pump unit and spark unit

The last set of wires are alternator connectors....(3 wires)YELLOW

You might want to make sure all wiring and terminals are closed before concluding to what the honda repair manual says:

Honda's service books states=
Starter relay switch "clicks", but engine does not turn over
- Crankshaft does not turn over due to internal mechanical engine problem.
- Excessive reduction gear friction.

Good luck

OK. I'll look at the kick stand switch but that won't stop me from starting the bike, right. I downloaded the 96-99 shop manual going around and in the wiring diagram it shows the part I was talking about as "ignition pulse generator" (under the cover forward of the clutch) and the wires going to the ign module. I think that must be the wires that are cut. I'll look at the colors in the AM.

The other problem that may be stopping me from starting it is the bracket by the clutch that holds the clutch cable is gone too. Is there a start switch that trips when you pull the clutch? Basically, does the clutch need to be pulled when you start?? Or a neutral safety switch??

OK. The harness that is cut IS for the side stand switch, so that isn't the problem. The clutch and neutral safety switch are working right now that I got the bike into neutral. I found one more open connector in that clear-ish rubber sleeve under the seat. It's got a green and a black with blue stripe wires. Anyone know what this goes to?

The voltage dropped to 11 and when I hit the start button, something kinda buzzes by the reg/rect. Is this the reg opening and closing because battery too low? (It sounds like what my 76 chevy truck does when battery is low.)

May be a dumb question but I was looking on ronayers.com at the fiche and it showed a fuel pump. This bike isn't supposed to have one, is it? And BTW - I don't see a 4 wire connector as described above.
