1987 hurricane 600f Can't Shift from 1st gear to Neutral while bike is on, the gear seems to be jammed when I'm at a complete stop, it shifts fine from 1st to Neutral as soon as I turn the bike off, but when the bike is on, and at a complete stop, I can't get out of 1st gear to go to Neutral or even 2nd gear! any advice? thanks

jammed = hard to shift - clutch drag, possibly improperly adjusted clutch cable - bent shift fork - bent shift spindle - bent shift claw - sticking shift drum stopper - incorrect engine oil weight, very unlikely in your case - faulty clutch lifter, located on inside of right crankcase cover - faulty gear shift spindle - faulty gear shift linkage - faulty drum shifter i would say it is drum shifter, shift claw, or shift fork. the latter 2 can only be checked by removing the engine and splitting the cases. have you tryed rolling the bike backwards a little bit before shifting from 1st to neutral when bike is operating?
