I found a guy who is selling his 2001 CBR 929 for $5500 and it has 21,000 miles on it. I havent seen the bike yet so Im not sure on what all the mods are yet but I know that it has alot done to it. Is this price too high?

Just for reference, I just bought a 2001 with 18,000 miles on it. It had a lot done to it... Jardine RT-One, a lot of carbon fiber pieces, etc. It had never been down and was in mint condition. It is also still under warrantee until October. The guy was really cool so I didn't want to haggle with him. I paid $6200. I could not be happier. The bike is a dream. If you have never ridden a 929, you are going to love it! Good luck!

Even though its 4-5 years old, the 929 is still a great bike. Price doesnt sound too bad.

Nah, that's a good deal. I just bought a 2001 w/ 19k on the odometer. Paid 6k for it. The only thing it really is a valve adjustment, that's no biggie. The guy put a full Micron exhaust, grips, flush mount blinkers, rear fender eliminator kit, 520 chain conversion with a Vortex rear sprocket. Sounds like a good deal. Listen to the bike closely, if it sounds good, buy it. You will not regret it.

make sure title is in hand, if they come up with any excuse LEAVE. A small dealership screwed me that way

bring a friend who knows about bikes when you go to check it out. he may see or hear something you dont.

good luck

I went and looked at the bike. 23000 miles(not 21000) seems like alot to a modded bike.

I had the same confusion, I never ridden a bike before ever... first time rider and i bought a 929.. 2001 yellow and black, all stock except Carbon fiber Jardine RT-One exhaust. It had 9,400 miles on it, and The guy sold it to me for $ 5,400. I didn't know if it was a good deal or not, but the bike was well worth it. Great bike, rides good, looks better than the 954 also.

23K is getting up there in miles but it doesn't mean there aren't a lot more left in it. I typically put 1500 miles a month on my bike -- mostly interstate with slight excursions into ludicrous speed. As long as the maintenance has been kept up with the bike should be good for another 30K. If you do get to take it home for an extended test drive check the plugs -- in my humble opinion the single best way (easiest anyway) to tell an engine's condition is to examine the plugs.

Just bought on 01 with 8100 miles for $5000 last month and have seen simaler bikes priced the same. Try the cycle trader.

I gotcha beat all up and down the street:

'01 929RR...mint condition...4,589 original miles, clean history, no damage at all...$5,800.00...Cycletrader man.....Cycletrader.....

The bike you speak of is sweet but the milieage is off the chain. Look harder. Your baby will reveal herself to you soon enough. It took me over 6 months for mine to rear her head and look where I am now...with this awesome CBR family.
