Quick question on the normal temp for the '04 1000rr when I’m riding my bike stays between 180 - 200 degrees but when I’m stopped and idling it will quickly jump to 220+ sometimes as high as 230 (vegas summers are bad) the fans are going but my ’01 GSXR would rarely hit 215. Sometimes antifreeze mildly leaks too. Is their something wrong with my RR? Has anyone ever had a similar situation?

I have an 06 and live in AZ so I feel your pain...and yes they do run that hot when they are in traffic. I put Engine Ice in mine, it brings the temp down a bit, but more importantly, in increases the boiling point so that i do flush all over the street. Cost me less than $40 and IMO is definetly worth the money.

230 is normal for idiling in the heat w/ the fan going full speed as long as the temp drops when your moving. You have serious problem above 240 or when the temp gauge flashes at you. Engine ice is very good and very expensive.
AZ1000rr Not to hijack the thread but.......How much and where you got yours from?
