wolvrinewd -> Yoshimura RS-5 (6/24/2006 1:38:29 PM)

I picked up my Yoshimura RS-5 Carbon Cone exhaust. I have everything removed and I marked the servo and I'm ready to put the Yoshi Slip-on in. Do I need to disconnect the cable housing that is conected to the stock exhaust and transfer it to the new exhaust or do I remove the cables from the servo and leave them off all together. Thanks in advnace for any help.

Remove the cables from the servo and leave them off all together.

post some pics....even if its still in the box....i've been waiting so long to get mine, i was really surprised that you found a dealer with one in stock...i called my dealer again, and he called pu & yosh; according to them, yosh has released an carbon fiber cans, cone or regular since early may due to the CF problems they were having....i'd love to show my dealer that at least one has been released...

wow, okay, no i understand. There is stock out there for the 04/05 models, just not for the 06's. I feel better know. Evidentally, while the that would probably fit on the 06, they made so internal design changes to match the 06 engine changes, and then ran out of CF. Your pipe looks fantastic, can't wait to get mine; how do you like the sound?

wolvrinewd -> RE: Yoshimura RS-5 (6/27/2006 11:22:04 AM)

I think it sounds great. Nice rumble at lower speeds and sounds even better when you get on it.

Question.....I put on the fender eliminator kit and the RS-5 is on the way, do you or should you remove the stock heat sheild? It looks like you removed it as well???

I've been waiting about a month for mine. i was told they are on back order because one of Yosh's carbon fiber suppliers went under. I can't imagine why this would happen, considering the amount of demand just for sport bike exhausts. Hopefully it will be here in the next couple of weeks, so i'm interested to hear how everyone's installs go.

As for the heat shield, I've been told that it needs to come off. i've also been told to go buy some heat reflective duct tape to replaced the heat shield.

wolvrinewd -> RE: Yoshimura RS-5 (6/27/2006 10:28:27 PM)

I took off all the heat shield minus the one near the rear break lever where the piping heads to the header. Yoshi supplies you with an adhesive heat sheild to stick up under in the undertail area and it is carbon fiber as well so it doesn't get too hot.

wolvrinewd -> RE: Yoshimura RS-5 (6/27/2006 10:31:24 PM)

The reflective duct tape might not be such a bad idea as the adhesive heat shield supplied is just enough for the 2 templates they give you to cover the undertail area.

ShoHonda -> RE: Yoshimura RS-5 (6/28/2006 2:07:30 PM)

Thanks for the heads up on the heat shield.....I will wait till the pipe comes in and from there do the rest of the mods. The fender eliminator kit worked well too....pretty good mods for low $$$$. Will post a pic once it is all done. My RS-5 is due in tomorrow. BTW it is not the CF one.....that was hard to get as you've already pointed out.

I chose the stainless rs-5. I think all the yoshi's look good and it sounds great. Performed the flapper mod and installed pipe at the same time and my god whata difference in performance, now I have no choice but to get the pc pc3 just to see what happens.
