My first bike and olny bike is a 2006 CBR1000rr. I ride my own ride( whenever I get a chance to ride). Im going to take the advanced msf course now and then pay for a track day, ride your ride.

Congrats on the new bike you will love it....and as long as you respect it you will be fine.  I bought one in june and already have 3000 miles on it and it was my first bike.  So don''t let everyone tell you that you shouln''t or cant cause ive been 170 plus and cornered like i was on a track and i am yet to drop it.  Just be safe and take it slow

Those statements contradict each other and if you''re doing that on the street as the no0b you claim to be then you''re trouble I''m glad I''m not around.

heres something people never bothered to share with me. 1 similar thing about the liter bike and the middleweight is the brakes.....(correct me if im wrong here guys) the main reason why people want you to start out with a smaller class bike is the power.... the power changes massively the brakes dont(well not to the effect of stopping faster.) i own both a 600 and a 1000. its waaay tooo easy to go waay tooo fast on a 1000. just as long as you show the proper amount of maturity and restraint you wont have this problem. remember the quote "speed kills"

come on ppl you put an idiot on a dirtbike and he''ll drop it.. weither it be at 10,20 or 100 he''ll still find a way to drop the bike, doesnt matter what kind of bike it is I would have to say its all about the driver.. ive had so many friends that go out and get new bikes and the first thing they do is drop the bike or drive into a stop sign or whatever you can amagine no matter what bike it is 600, 750 or 1000 and i have friends that ride forever with never dropping it, its all about the person the first time i rode a newer fuel injected bike from my F4 at the time i was in flip flops shorts and a tie shirt and did just fine.. do i think the dude is crazy for going right for the nuts?? hell yeah...  but i still thinks its about the rider.. Respect the power but remember the bad as brakes will make up for it (except in a middle of a turn)so good luck

Wow!!! It has been over 2 years since...I DID IT. No regrets, although I have to admit I was a little nervous going with a 1000 for my first bike. Thanks to all of those on this board who both encouraged and cautioned me back then. Today I have the same bike...well the first bike was stolen, but I immediately replaced it with the same model and color scheme. I love this bike and ride every chance I get. Great board, I haven’t been here in a while....to see this old post again brought back great memories. Ride safe everyone!!!
