i need a quick answer because i want to get this done soon, has anyone ever put 150 RADIAL tire on an 87?

i had a 160 on for awhile, handled like crap then i put on a 1990 cbr1000 rear rim and now run a 190 (just took off a 180)... very easy and worthwhile swap.

If the stock rear tyre on your bike was 130 mm, then 150 mm is far to much. I tried a friends Yamaha FZ 750 last year with that combination and it was scary even when overtaking cars at moderate lean angles. The side of the tyre was so sharped angeled down (like a car tyre) that there was no possibility to lean the bike more than about 20 degrees before it become loose in the rear and felt like it was begining to slide. There was also a swivel pattern (1 inch round circles) around the complete tyre at the area where the tyre angled down to the sides showing that bad things happened during the test ride. To this season, he has changed to the stock 130 mm rear and the bike felt very good in corners. I could run so much harder this time that I bottomed out the front fork in a curve just by the load force, showing that there was far to little travel margin in the front fork which also have been fixed now.

If the stock tyre was a 140 mm, a 150 mm will work but it will affect the handling negatively to some degree.

I would keep the stock tyre size, as even a minor widening will affect the handling but still not giving the desireable fat apperance. On smaller bikes a 130 mm tyres can look quite correct, but a large bike as the CBR 1000 F looks strange with a small rear tyre so it is a dilemma. However, people have get layed in the rear of a Volvo so there is nothing to fear
