Ok I ordered a Joe Rocket UFO textile coat online and finally got it today. I took it out of the packaging and it was awsome. So i try it on and feels fine until i zip it up then it feels a little tight and short. Now I am a NuB and havent ever worn a riding jacket before. but is this how they are supposed to be?? I had my girlfriend measure my chest, then I measured hers....nah just kidding.... and it was right at a medium for the sizing chart joe rocket has i think 41"-42". Anyway, I am just curious how these coats are supposed to fit. thanks for any/all help!!

They're supposed to be snug, not loose and roomy, just like your helmet. You've probably got the right jacket size, just need to get used to it. It'll also stretch a bit as you wear it in. And they are shorter because remember you've got to bend/lean over when you're riding so you can't really have your jacket going past your waist.

A loose fitting jacket will allow the padding to shift away from the areas its suppose to be protecting if you happen to go down and the sleeves are usually a bit shorter than your typical jacket (maybe to go under gauntlet style gloves better).

hey man, im in the same boat as you. i ordered the icon tiMax mesh jacket (medium). the jacket fits, but it feels almost too short (length wise). its kinda like im wearing my old 8th grade t-shirt. i also ordered a (large) today to kinda test fit the 2 of them. but you guys say they are supposed to be kinda short, and it will stretch out a bit. i went for a ride with it on a little bit ago and it feels fine. my measurements fall in the medium as well as the large size. dayum, i hate being 6'1" and 170lbs. you shorter/stockier guys have it good.

now im wondering if i should not have ordered the large size afterall.
any input on this?

thanks guys
dave

The idea with a riding jacket is that the arms are longer than usual and the body is shorter. When you lean over your tank the body doesn't scrunch up on you and your out-stretched arms don't get exposed.

I have the Icon tiMax jackt too and I love it!

06CBRF4i - You're right where you should be. A little snug is fine as long as you still have good range of motion. Have you had a chance to put any miles on yet? How does it feel to ya?

Now, can you tell us more about your girlfriend's measurements!?!?!?

Just kiddin' bro... you started it!!!

I have the Icon Timax and to me it fits perfect everywhere except the length of the arms. They feel just a hair to short to me but the guy at the dealership said it fit perfect....wanted a sale or knows more than me since I am a noob.

Have a Joe rocket jacket also. I went down to a small because I don't like alot of loose material. If the jacket is to loose on you it acts like a sail at high speed.

This is another reason I like to stick to leather.

It's a little snug, but it "learns" your body. Of all the gear I have, my Teknic Chicane jacket is my favorite. It fits sooo well.

Gear shouldn't be so snug it's uncomfortable, BUT it should not be baggy enough that you can move the armor around.

good points all.

Dont buy any type of clothing online. The size charts everyone offers arent exactly the best way to go. Just find a local store and try on your hear.

I am 6'2 about 150lb's. (i ride a 06 1000rr - odd combo huh? lol ) im just a little guy.

But...I bought a ICON PURSUIT in XL because of my long arms and it fits perfectly. Has some movement. But nothing to the point where I'd feel unsafe about it not protecting me.

The bottom of the jacket will not goto your belt line on most jackets. they run above your waste line. so dont take that as a sign of it being too small.
