My first bike was also a EX 500. Couldn't afford insurance on a ninja 600 when I was 18. Damn tickets. I haven't been on a street bike for 16 years. Just bought a 06' 1000 a couple of weeks ago. I love it. Feels like I haven't missed a beat with the time off between bikes, other than a shit load of power. In the time I took off from street bikes I raced dirt bikes, that might of helped. I suggest that you go do a track day. It helps soo much. It will give you a peek of what the bike has. Plus a day at the track will give you more riding experience than a year on the streets. Providing that you utilize the instructors that are at the track. Here is a pic of the track day last weekend I took. Warning Track days are addicting.

Hey Demoman Those were some good pics. You looked "fast" just sitting there in the first pic. I will look into some local tracks to ride on. I will first need to get experience riding and handling the bike before I even go anywhere of a long distance to get to a track. Again, great pictures.

yeah ok i have over 3,000 miles on the bike and i havn't opened it up through 2nd. i hate riding 600's. i also recently rode a gxr 1000an and an r1 and don't like either of them compared to the rr. it seems effortless to ride the rr compared to the other bikes more refined and stuff.

My first bike was a 00 gixxer 750. I wouldn't have gotten rid of it if I hadn't gotten hit by a car. It helps that the parents gave me a substantial amount of cash to pay for this one as a graduation present too.(COLLEGE not High School) Oh, no regrets on the buy either. I like this thing way better than the suzuki. It handles better, to me, and has unbelievable low and mid range power. I haven't went past 6k rpm, well once, due to proper break in. I'm taking it easy on it until I get past the first oil change, then I'm still not going to be hard on it until over 1k miles.

Hey all you 1000 riders... God rockets are a blast, eh???? Back in the day... a 72 Norton 750 combat comando barn find. damn near killed myself so many times.. hardest part was try'n to stop putt'n my foot down in the corners, cause of my open class mx background !!!!!!!! kz1300, gs1100, vf1000f, 860 gts duc, cbr1000f, gsxr1100... wheeee!!!!!!!! I love 'em big and fast !!!!!!!!!! But i've got to say in retrospect... I should have really try'd to LEARN how to ride a bike properly!!!!!!!! I't would have been much easy'r and safer TOO. I used to use Jesus as a brake'n marker, way to often..."slow down, my son "!!!!!!!!!!!! ,white robes and everystuff !!!!!!!! To all learning... look everyplace you can to find wisdom and therory...Everyday, I try to learn more... and the more I understand... the more, I'm able to practice, ponder, absorb the larger picture. This is truely the joy of the sport we have chosen. This forum has taught me much... THANKS, to all that have a hand in my future. My beast friend... a teachable spirit, that alows me to learn more and enjoy, what has truely become, a lifes "love", for me. Take it easy, lots of time to go way fast, learn smoooth, and the control subtulty's, that make it so much safer and enjoyable, for all envolved. Get good gear, and wear it proudly, even when others don't. This is a sport that can pay off in so many ways... have'n made a better person of me, manifold. Your future... looks great !!!!!!!!! Clean and freeeee, Ripp'n

Hehe...my first bike was a Honda CT110 trail bike. Got a Honda V45 Magna after that. Stepped up to a 1990 CBR600 after that. Bought an 04 CBR1000RR a little over a year ago. But here is my list of Hondas that I have owned... 1. ATC110 2. CT110 2. ATC200X 3. V45 Magna 4. ATC350X 5. CBR600R 6. ATC250R 7. TRX250R 8. CBR1000RR Me thinks I like the Hondas. They have always had the best fit and finish of the big 4 Japanese companies. I still own the TRX250R and the CBR1000RR. They are both keepers...the best that Honda made for the dirt on 4 wheels and the best that they make for the street on 2 wheels.
