I love it and it's my first bike. I had riden my bro's Katana before, but wow was I surprised when I got on this thing. I have 1300 miles now and it's like anything else you have to respect it or it will get you.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think the original question was meant for those who's FIRST EXPERIENCE with a bike is the 1krr. If you rode on other bikes before the 1krr, then 1krr would NOT be your first bike even if you did not own those other bikes. I dare say that there is no one here for whom the 1krr was the bike they took to do their riding test for their motorcycle license. I would even venture to say that there isn't anyone here that rode less than 200 miles on ANY OTHER BIKE before getting a 1krr.

Last year, I took the motorcycle course and could not have done more than 5 miles on the 250 from the course lessons. And with the stop and go and waiting for others...there was definitely no consistent riding, traffic, real life scenarios etc on the 250. I didn't ride anything else after the class and purchased a CBR 1000rr this summer. Taking it slow and enjoying every moment of it. Definitely not the best way....but as Frank Sinatra sang...I did it My Way. Ride Safe.

this is towards br2819...why you hatin on the 600 so much? they are pieces of crap..just a lil slower. i think its funny when some ppl are so happy they have a 1000cc bike but are to scare to open it up all the way or even know how to use it. just beat this punk at the track on his 1000rr blue candy one. his best was low 12's. im just sayin dont hate on other bikes to much..cause one of them will beat you.

Evan_CBR: You met my challenge. I bet it was a great feeling to get on the bike you really wanted the first time. I was pretty thrilled to have a Shadow 600 as my first bike. So, I can imagine what it might have been like for you on that first ride on a full-blown sportbike. More power to you. Just remember what Clint Eastwood said,"a man's gotta know his limitations". As long as we keep this in perspective, AND not ride next to a cage, you'll be alright.

Actually, my first experience was on my 1000rr, and I did take the test on it with less than 200 miles on it, and passed. However, I had done a lot of reading prior to purchasing and I knew how to ride a bike. How hard could it be?
