Anyone know how to tie down the seat more fixedly than just placing it down? I'm new to nikes and this is my first one, and I just wondered if there is supposed to be a clamp or yie down or something. Sometimes when I'm riding the seat slides up, this is why I ask.

I assume you meant to say "bikes" and not "nikes"

Actually on my 92 there is the big lip like piece of plastic that goes under the rear gas tank mount and then there is a clip like piece that is made to clip onto the metal bracket that's between the tail light fixture and the little tray. That clip piece is what keep the seat from just lifting off and from moving around.

And on that note, am I missing some parts for that little compartment under the seat? Is there supposed to be a cover or anything? Where does everyone else keep their registration and insurance paperwork at? I als o need a plce to keep my garage door opener too.

There are two bolts, one on each side that are used to secure your seat to the frame. One is between the voltage regulator and the "Black Box", the other is directly across from it.

There is no cover on the 92's. Your seat is the cover. I keep my registration in a zip lock bag and it works just fine. You can also keep your reg in the tool compartment if your worried about it. That has a cover that snaps in place.

Ok, now where in the heck is the tool compartment? I have never seen something with tools nor have I even seen a place where tools would fit. Granted I have had my bike for less than a week (one week tomorrow) I have looked it over pretty damn close.

Yeah I always have a copy of my reg and ins in my wallet, but there are times that I just grab my license out and throw it in my pocket if I want to just go for a quick ride. Always nice to have it on the vehicle as well.

the tool compartment is in there with the battery. the guy you bought your bike from probably didnt have the tool bag anymore but most have a little bag that is kept in the battery compartment. ive always wondered how i was supossed to get to that compartment if i break down on the road as the tool to remove the seat would be kept in there. hmm.... o well

I don't really ever see a reason to keep the seat bolts in, my seat sits just fine without them and I keep stuff inside that area when I drive (summer gloves, hat for helmet hair, etc...).

Guess I need to go find a tool kit online somewhere.

I keep my seat bolts finger tight, and I can actually use the key for the bike to turn the little lock screws on the tail sections to remove them. Then undo the finger tight bolts and off comes the seat.

Ok so 2 questions: First, how do you get to those bolts with the seat on? Second, I believe the previous owner f--uo the seat so the clips are broken. Can it be fixed if they are not there? Where can I get a replacement seat? what am I looking at in the money department?

The bolts are behind the tail section. You literally have to pull the bike apart to get to them. The f2 wasn't designed with storage in mind.

thats right you have to turn those plastic screw heads and then it should pop out of those rubber bushins. there is no truck on those bikes but you can order on for 90.00 i think the site is www.flashalert.com. it comes with a silanoid that will take the place of the bolts and you push a button to release. it looks pretty sweet I wanted to get one for mine, but I sold it. check it out
