I have a 1998 F-3 and I can only get it to start for about five seconds then dies on me. I changed the plugs drained out the old fuel and changed the battery. It will if I pump the gas and then it just stops

Well to add more to the deal, when I spray stater fluid in the intake it will start but as soon as I let off the throttle it dies, could this be a fuel pump or a valve somwhere in the system? If it is the fuel pump how easy is the installation and removal? Please help, I just got my bike back after a couple of years due to being shipped overseas for a few tours of duty, thank you.

Sounds like the carbs need to come off and get cleaned..the pilot jets are probally gummed solid from sitting for a few years...
