I started hearing a tapping sound coming from the front of my bike a week ago.
I would hear it when decelerating (not all the time) & I couldn’t make out where
it was coming from. So I brought the bike to the shop & the tech took it out for a
ride; when he came back he told me that he thinks it’s my front bearings. Does this
sound about right? Anyway, he was about to close the shop, so I didn’t have time to
talk to him about it.
Have any of you guys had this problem before?
Is it something I have to fix right away or can I ride it out for a while?
I’m in a financial strain right now, so if I have to fix it, it wont happen till
Next month….

What's Cracking!! What year is your Bike? Also, you might need to redo your triple trees also. And me personally.. If the guy couldn't take 30 minutes to look at your bike to make sure that it is safe I say forget him.. I hang out at the shop with my mechanic whenever I have time.. Because he knows who ever bike he work on.. Their lives are in his hands. But, if it sounds to expensive. go to another shop. But, Be safe and holla at ya boy whenever..

If it is the wheel bearings it is serious -- they will get worse and eventually they will fail and if you're riding it will be a bad scene. The bearings themselves are not that expensive and are relatively easy to replace ... ya just gotta know how. So get a manual and the proper tools and save some $$$

Did the mechanic say it was the wheel bearings or the headset bearings?? If the bike is subjected to alot of wheelies, the head bearings can get loose, and cause a "knocking" on decelleration since the triple tree is moving back and forth.... these bikes have aluminum frames and if the head bearings get to loose it can actually knock the race out of the frame and start to oblong the steering neck..at least I have seen this before..in FZR1000's, but things have not changed that much...just speaking from personal experience..
