Come on people, I find it pitiful that people (birdman2876, blown hemi) feel so incompetent about their knowledge of motorcycles and riding that they feel they need to attack people like Y2k929rr or weeble1 on other topics, and I find the stuff that is made up by the same people stated above repulsive, and it makes me sick to think that people like that run around in our communities, and even sicker to know that they affiliate themselves with the sportbike world. Please grow up and leave it alone, attacking people like that doesn't make you a man, it makes you a pervert, and if you are going to be like that, get out of here.

Damn this is annoying. I don't know what you are attempting to prove Hemi but NOBODY is impressed. Shut up if you have nothing constructive to say. I think I can speak for every other person in this forum when I say that nobody wants to hear this s**t. Go away if you aren't actually contributing to this forum.

He's probably having problems understanding what you're saying because you are boderline incoherent with a grade school's sense of humor.
Anyway, Y2k929rr - I'm a little confused by what you are saying about gearing. From what I understand and correct me if I'm wrong, a 929 geared -1+2 will steadily out-accellerate a stock geared 929 from standing still to the -1+2 929's top speed. You said early in this thread lower gearing only helps from low speed or from a stop and either hurts or has no influence beyond 3rd gear - why do you say this?

Thats a great question chesthing, I also am not really understanding what he is saying about gearing, I'm gonna start another post about it though, so we can try to kill this post and move on.

It seems to me that Amease's suggestion of -1+2 would make it a closer race until around 150 mph, although I doubt it would be enough to win or even make it close. Y2k929rr made some valid points, but I think he's way off on his gearing analysis.

I think I'm the type of person to leave the gearing stock. I would rather keep highway MPG the way it is and keep the low end power how it is. If you change the sprocket for accel you run a much higher RPM on the highway which drops MPG. 1st gear won't stay on the ground anyway on a stock height bike (won't drop it becaust I love my corners too much) and second gear is barely on the ground. Second is well in to 100 MPH on stock sprockets so I don't see a lot of reason to change it. Then if you do decide to change sprockets you need to drop even more money in to "speedo healer" or howerver the hell you spell it. Just my 2 cents.

Yeah, when I think sprocket change I don't even consider losing top end because I don't ride at the track - higher rpms at 80 mph are the only real liability to consider, but better acceleration does have it's merits.
This thread interested me because I ordered -1+2 sprockets, I just havent decided which way to go with them, but its for my '94 1000F - I don't have to worry about wheelies like you guys do.

-1 front (which equals -3 rear) with a +2 is the same as stock front with +5 back, which is getting close to too much gearing. When I said there is no influence beyond 3rd gear, its because in a race you are already going over 100 in 3rd gear, and the gearing won't help much uf at all when you are already pushing the revs that high. Gearing gets you a better holeshot and better acceleration in the lower end, but you will lose some top end.

Depends on the race, in a 1/4 mile race that gearing WILL help, alot. In a flat out highway race with no distance limit, it will hurt in the latter part of the race.

Ah the simple solution to this problem, sell the 929 and get a new bike..like an 07 gsxr 1000, perhaps it's just me, but i love my 929, but i couldn't force myself to turbo it, and tear it apart trying to get those extra HP, waste of money, the bike is what it is, love what ya got. If i were to turbo my bike and do exhaust, etc. It would cost me 5k probably more, so 5K worth of upgrades to a bike that's only worth 5k doesn't make sense, plus turbo charged bikes are far from reliable.. you'll be up to your elbows in mechanic costs.. I would just move on..
