I'm seriously hacked. Someone stole my new CBR 1000RR out of my drive way Monday. I've only had it for two months 1150 miles (were) all that was on it. So this post is just an FYI. They won't be able to drive it, but my fear is parting it out.

Description:

Completely stock, Black w/ silver stickers. No unique identifying markers. I'll update later with the tag and frame number.

Sory this isn't much of a description, but please be on the lookout for 2006 parts showing up in forums or on eBay, or other places. I can be reached by email beenokun@gmail.com. By the way, it was stolen in Oklahoma City, OK.

Sorry to hear about that. I just bought one and my concern is that I live in an apartment complex with no garage. I do have a protection plan that gives me $2,500 towards a new bike if it is stolen. This is above and beyond the gap insurance I also have. Without these two, I do not think I would have bought the CBR1000 or any high end bike while living in an apartment.

I don't know what your INS is like, but you may want to make sure that you are covered pretty good so that you don't loose out money-wise in case this happens again.

So I have to ask, what did you do so they won't be able to ride it? That's the key, don't make it easy.

My cousin had his 954 stolen and he had a rotor lock on his front wheel and a kryptonite (sp?) chain through the rear wheel, frame and then wrapped up through to the front wheel. They lifted up into a Astro van while his neighbor watched the whole thing. He was P.O'd. Luckily they found it within 48 hrs. with minor damage. They couldn't do anything with it 'cause they had to lift it everytime they wanted to move it. They didn't have time to move it to a chop shop 'cause some of his other neighbors gave a description of the van.

Not much. I had just gotten it out of the shop for routine maintenance, and was looking into buying a lo-jack system or locking system. Procrastination is what caused this.

At first I wasn't, but I'll invest in a locking system. Any recommendations?

I'm sorry about your bike. I've been reading this forum for a few weeks now (new CBR owner) and you guys have a great deal of good info. My 1000RR was stolen a few weeks ago with only 150 miles on it; luckily I had the lojack on it, so it was recovered within two hours of reporting it. I know knowing this is not helping you now with your bike being stolen but for anyone else out there it works. Best $700 (installed) I've ever spent. Once again sorry about you bike cause I know how you feel.

Lojack - added to my list. Thanks. I'd heard from cops that their opinion of lojack was that they (cops) never seem to get there fast enough before the car/bike/truck etc, had been parted out and 'distributed' (ebay'd). But I am tempted to get it just in case.

if you report it in time they get there in time.. if it was stolen at 2 am its possible to be in pieces and gone by 9 am when you wake up but there is a posibility that they dumped the frame but the lojack is hidden on a part they kept to sell.. if you were at dinner or a bar and noticed it was gone within an hour id say 90% chance youll get it back.. just might not be in the condition they took it in.. either way its worth a 1 time price of 600.00

Thanks guys. I'm aready planning to buy another one. I'm thinking on waiting to see how much of a difference the '07 will be. If not much, then I'll wait to hit some sales at the end of the year on a new '06. Either way, It'll probably be next spring before I'm riding again. !@#%&!@ thieves!!!!!!!!
What really makes me mad.....I made the news for OKC Honda CBR riders... I had the first one in the state....I managed to get approved and riding 1hr before a guy in Tulsa, OK bought his......I even got to see it in its crate...like giving birth man....there's nothing like it......

Had a bike stolen from me right from a storage unit. The storage unit closed at 9 PM,they waited untill it closed and broke in.what they did was parked a car on the Thruway cut the fence entered the property then cut the lock on my storage unit and stole the bike.Took the bike out to the Thruway had a truck and away they went.Never got the bike back and that not what hurt. What sucked was that this person I worked with who I thought was a friend new something about the theft.Never could prove it though. He was a real piece of shit.

I have had 3 bikes stolen FZR600, NINja's all the advise I would give is have good insurance because if someone really wants your bike they will get it eventually.

The first thing cops ask is if I could identify some parts. I would scratch info inside of my fairings that would identify them as mine that way if and when they are finnished with the case you have identified your parts and will get them back.
