EDIT::: Also If I were to buy a used Speedo & tach Combo Used with say 15k miles on it, when i install it on my bike will it show the 15k or the 450 mi that are actually on my bike?? I know on cars the miles are stored in the computer/separate chip so it doesnt matter if you change them or not. Are bikes the same or different? Thanks for the help/info.....

Yup. The machine's odometer reading is on the board inside that assembly. You can always by the rear cover and guage facing from www.bikebandit.com. My gauge "glass" or plastics, whatever, were really scratched after four years of washing/waxing/debris etc., so I bought a replacement gauge facing.

Bikes are different (well, the F4i at least).

so your saying that O.D would read 15K once plugged in on my bike?? That sux!! I need a whole new unit the speedo part is completely broken, like the liquid crystal or whatever is all over, the screen itself cracked and half of it is black now. I found one from service honda for like $387 brand new. but found a used one with a little over 15K miles for under $200. What would yall do about this? I dont want the used one with 15k to drop the value of my bike more if i were to ever sell it!!

Oh, and one thing that I've been arguing with someone else about... Did you LOOP the bike? As in the front came up and over, or did you lock up the rear wheel, the bike turned sideways and then flipped into the air? WHICH ONE? Inquiring minds need to know.

.....<snip>... I just let the clutch out and gave some gas well forgot how high the rpms were when i went to shift into 2nd they spiked that high again so fast the bike just flipped. kinda like doing a wheelie and over doing it.

Come on guys... Reading comprehension. How many times does he have to explain it?

06cbrf4i - good luck with everything. I hope that this will be a good learning experience to keep you safe in the future.
I give you big props for coming here and sharing your experience with everyone else. I wish all newer riders with incidents (and I'm sure there are LOTS) would do the same. These are always valuable reads for new people thinking about starting with larger bikes..

Good luck.

Looks like you're adding a gauge cluster to your "list to buy".

I'd go brand new. I'm very meticulous about my vehicles though. Well sort of... Good luck and keep us posted.

Sorry Spike, I dont consider that totaled, as being that about 1k of it was labor and that I still owe 8k on the bike. Totaled is when the cost of damage exceeds the value of the vehicle/bike in the condition it was in, before the damage was done. Also, I've notice you've had nothing constructive or helpful to say ever since you started posting on this thread. So unless you do have something useful.....please just ignore this thread your not helping anyone!!

Boy you must have a lot of money to be fixing all that stuff on top of having just bought the bike not too long ago. Sorry I don't have anything positive to add, but what good is there to add to a noob who started on a supersport and get PWN3D for his decision? If you had started on a smaller bike this would NEVER have happened. And that's my final word on the subject.

Whoa sorry to hear this man... main thing you are ok.

Yup, I gotta agree the fact you were that high in the RPM range and then mis-shifted tells me right off you are starting on too big a bike.

Maybe try an EX500 Kawasaiki like I did.... and then slowly move up. Have you ever taken MSF? Sounds like you are very unfamiliar with the bike's controls.

My current bike is a used 600f2 and it's great for now though I do want a bigger bike.

wtf are you talking about?? the bike red lines at 14.5k.
10-11k isn't even at the peak of the hp.

how is it "BAAAAD for your bike" ?

Definitely bad for the driver if he/she's inexperienced.

The thing is, Is i know not to do downshift at that high of an RPM Im not a freakin idiot. Come-on. I know it may seem like it, but i've had ALOT of personal stuff going on and I was just throttle happy I guess and when it happened I didnt think correctly. plain and simple. And yes i've had the MSF course. I've bought all but 2 of the parts i need and so far im up to around $1100. Only used part was the headlight from F4istunna here on the forums and I havent received that yet. The rest are all new parts. I just need a front fender and RR fairing. I think im gonna get a used one and have my friend airbrush something sick on it. and Im looking into getting a carbon fiber front fender, but i'd have to save up a little for that one.

"Definitely bad for the driver if he/she's inexperienced" That's the point, Unfortunately SOME new riders WILL NOT LISTEN TO WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY in regards to taking it easy until thay gain more experience (that's a known fact), BUT tell them (in this case taking it to 11k in first gear) it's bad for their BIKE and they won't do it again (go figure), that's the point I was trying to make (save a newbie's life) but hey what do you, now some newbie might be reading this thread
and say WOW I heard zzz11 say that the bike red lines at 14.5k I GOTTA TRY THIS S*** out, way to go
"how is it "BAAAAD for your bike" see the BAAAD
