Hi all you cbr1000f riders!

I think i posted pics of my bike on here a while back when i first had it - but here's some more since i've added a
full Micron system (good old Ebay!) and a purple flip-up screen.I bought her back in september last year for £2300 (dealer)
and have done about 5000 miles on her.Great bike,solid and reliable for what i need (i do a lot of two-up riding) and comftable.
Almost bought a Blackbird but glad i didn't!

Nice bike and colour sceme, congrats ! To be quite honest, a smaller wind screen looks better. You also bought the bike very cheap.

Cheers R1000 - Thanks for your comments.
I have since put the standard screen that came with the bike back on.
Unfortunately whoever owned it before me has drilled holes at the top of the screen,
I presume this was to fit some sort of screen extender?It's hard to find screens for these
bikes.I do know that MRA do them so might have to bite the bullet and get one of those
(about £56....)Also i'm thinking of getting the wheels repainted as they have a few marks and chips.

Any opinions on colours?I was thinking either red or white?

White rims is girl-power

(just kidding), I guess red would be real nice on that bike and black is never wrong. Perhaps you can cover the drill holes with som flat-head bolts or something else if the screen is in good shape and worth saving.

Well... screen size beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I'm a function over form guy and if I don't get the buffeting and more weather protection from a larger screen, then so be it. I just ordered a MRA Vario. Yep they be ugly, but if it works like some others say it does, then I'll be happy.

I'm not a big fan of either white or red wheels. Maybe the graphite like the later models or a nice silver? Either would look great with that color scheme. Also I would powder coat them instead of painting. Wheels take a lot of abuse and powder coating will stand up much better then paint will.

Yeah,maybe a nice silver would be cool - or gold? (i resprayed the wheels on my old RD350YPVS from
white to gold!)Captain Obvious - i think powder coatings the way to go for durability definately,just
have to find a good place to get 'em done now!

just this second won a standard screen (with no holes in!

) off ebay so pleased about that - Illushun,
your CBR is lovely and you are so lucky to have that exhaust system...

I might not have owned a CBR1000 that long,but am glad there is such a dedicated following for these
superb bikes - tthe only thing i dislike about them is they weigh a fair bit! (but i suppose that means
they hold the road more solidly!)

I use the factory screen in the sunner and put my GIVI on when it gets colder out. The GIVI is my best friend when there is frost on the pumpkins.

Why paint? What's wrong with naked?

(apart from all the polishing after some harsh weather...........

I never knew GIVI made a screen for our bikes - thats a surprise.Anyways,i know this might have been covered
before - but does fitting a four into one exhaust system make these bikes flat off the bottom-end?

I have made no carb adjustments and am running a micron four into one....and is a bit flat on the bottom end
of the rev range????

I don't know much about four-stroke carb tuning,am pretty used to 2-strokes......

People have advised me against a dynojet kit as they say it won't make any difference - is this right?

Got a Givi screen on mine. Had it a couple of years now and still can't make my mind up if I prefer it to the original or not.

I use a 4-2-1 system and am still impressed about the awsome midrange and power up to 10+ k. After reading your post I can agree that the bottom also with my 4-2-1 system, say up to 3 k or even a little bit more, is by no means impressive even if it doesn't hesitate in any way. However, I have never feel this to be a defect or a problem since I dont use rpm below 4 k at all at real accelerations. When i want to go fast, I keep the rpm well above 7 k and downshift when neccesary.

The previous owner of my bike must have had cabin feaver because he's the one that took my wheels down to naked. I thought they would be a problem when I got the bike but, to tell you the truth, I take a Scottch Brite pad and very lightly wipe the rims in the spring and once during the summer. I get complements on them a lot.

As for the pipes, I just put a TB-carbin fiber slip-on on my bike yesterday and without any other mods to the engine, there seems to be more mid range power. It was a coastly change, however, now I get the respect that I deserve(Booooo-Woooow).
