awesome NOE - let me know how they work - I looked on Ron Ayers and as far as I can tell the 87-88 models have the same rearset/peg configuration as the 91 & newers....

My bike is a 1992 CBR 1000 F and I found this bike to be very comfortable I am 49 years old 6 feet 3 inches high and weigh about 110 kilos and to ride from Brisbane Queensland Australia to where I live in Gladstone on the central coast of Queensladn it took me 5 hours with 3 stops the trip was 590 kls long and when I got home I took my Dogs for a 3 Klm walk. My bike is all stock standard except for a custom made sheep skin seat cover 590 ks is nothing for a day trip on a CBR

Hey TimBucTwo, where was the picture in your avatar taken? Above timberline, curvy, and no guardrails. Looks like the road up to Mt. Evans in Colorado. By the way, my wrists start to ache after an hour of riding.

The avatar picture is from Mt. Washington, NH USA. Mt. Washington is billed as having the worst weather in the world. The higest recordable winds on the planet were from there. The highest recorded temp. on the summit was 72F. EL 6,288 ft above sea level.
This year was very windy. The wind had to be around 50 to 60 MPH.

Last year was very foggy.

Well, the test is today - it's 4:10 AM and am leaving to meet the other riders in a half hour or so to go 200-300 miles today. I know I'll feel some pain - if I make it without having to cut off from them later in the morning because I need to stop I'll take it as a victory - I'll post when I'm done - thanks everyone for the advice.

Well, I did it, 215 miles with one stop for breakfast and one for gas. My knees and neck are pretty sore, but it went better than expected - I think I just need a few of these and I'll be fine. I still can't fathom 500+ mile days, those of you that can do that will always be out of my long distance league.
The bike was AWESOME. Coming from a Honda Valkyrie, this thing is a revelation in handling - it took less effort to go faster - great bike.

Very cool! You'll be doing an iron-butt in no time.

If you can get out on your bike a few times a week, even short runs, you'll get the muscles that count in shape and ready for the long hauls. And the handling? That's what makes these things so fun. Keep working with it and it'll only get better. Welcome to the dark side.

The guys I ride with all ride with big-buck sport tourers (two have the fancy new BMW 160 hp$21,000 model) and I seperated the two for the first time, one of those riders was the only one I couldnt keep up with. All were thoroughly impressed with my new $2,000 toy, but noone nearly as much as me. I'll get used to it and be the fastest rider with a couple more rides - now I finally understand clip-ons - when riding as fast as you can through insane twisties the low position totally rocks.

Great news!

The other thing is the protection the bike offers. Your bike has just as much or more protection from the cold days ahead.

I took my Youngest dauther to the pro-nationals MX on Sunday. She loved our ride togeather. Only 224 miles round trip. I just got back from swimming up north today, just a 124 mile hop, round trip.

Congrats again!

Why not? I find that the tank bags put my head at just the right level to take a nap on when I pull off for a quick refresh.

LSL makes complete topjokes, but also adapters, so you can but a straigt handlebar to your original topjoke, making the riding position
much more upright. For longer than 500 miles trips, i put the original seat back on, this one gives much more backsupport, but is a bit lower,
and thus decreaeses the knee-angle. Original one gives the legs a bit more comfort at long periods.

Plenty of stops, every hour or 100 miles, depending on twisties/motorway, and plenty of fluids (for the bike and you).

Also, acting crazy and waving your legs and 'walking' while riding, helps another couple of ten miles.

If you want to save money on Aleve, just buy the store brand of Naproxen Sodium, which is the active ingredient in Aleve.  It seems to me to be the best otc anti-inflammatory.

I'm still wavering on replacing my stock windscreen.  The bike also came with a Laminar Lip, but I would like to get the airflow going a little bit higher.  What kind of screen is that in the photo?  Does it do the job?
