Is there a way to reprogram a CDI box using a laptop for preformance,ie timing and rev limiting? Thanks.

you have to use either a power commander or an HRC ECU, the PC is the cheapest and easiest way (and has the same results)

I was wanting to increase the rev limit and maybe some advance. Was wondering if this was done on a laptop or the CDI-ECU had to be taken apart and parts replaced?

didn't I just answer this? lol

you need either a PCIIIr or an HRC ECU to do that (actually the pc3r won't change the rev limit, just the advance)
to use the HRC ECU (which btw is really expensive and hard to get) you need the HRC wiring harness and tacho. The wiring harness eliminates all the street stuff, headlights, signals, brake lights, etc all the stuff race bikes don't use

and of course raising the rev limit is really only good if you've got some engine work done and you'll need a really good tuner thats worked with HRC parts before to work out the mapping

basically what i'm trying to tell you is to forget the HRC parts and learn to ride better (not meant as an insult, just saying the money would be better spent at a school like the Freddie Spencer or Pridmore school)

just read a couple of your posts, so this isn't on a bike its wired into something else?
same answer though, the stock ECU for an F4i is not made to be tampered with. the advance and fuel mapping can be done with a PC3r but the actual ECU would have to be replaced with the HRC part that has to have a different wiring harness in order to adjust the rev limit
