So I was riding on some highway I think the CA101 Northern Cali between Napa Valley and Vallejo. Well there is a huge straight away, so I decided to test my 99 CBR600 Carbed, It was extreme steady around 110, idk if it was uneven payvment on the straight-away but the bars start slapping, then the bike fell into a full slap at 119-125. This continued for about a mile, the lethal tank slapping, I accelerated through most of it to straighten it out, I ended up under control and pulled over in the dead grass midian. I guess someone behind me saw the whole thing and they called the Fire Dept. I stopped under an underpass on the next exit and just cleaned the brush off my bike and my pants. So the fire dept first passes me while holding position under the bridge so I waived to them, 2 mins later they come cruising back and ask me if I dropped my bike, I said no I had some tank slapping and had to pull over, the guy said keep the wheels down and I said keep truckin' and that was it. SO lesson learned. I edited this post because obviously some brothers of ours were offended.

I have a 1999 cbr600f4 and guess what? Last weekend I had the bike well over 150 mph and ran smooth as hell. The moral of the story, don't do 120 on your piece of shit.

Piece of shit? so how many miles do you have on your bikes? 2k maybe 10k most, I've had my 99 since I bought it off the showroom floor, it has 42k miles on it, I ride all day and could probably ride all over both of you.

second of all why are you 2 ''New Members'' trying to talk shit to people who have posted more valuable information than how wrecklessly fast you can go on your bike.

Hmmm lets see. It appears you joined after me. My point by calling your bike a piece of shit (which it probably is because you don't take care of it I'm sure) is that you need to fix it. This doesn't happen on any of our bikes....so hmmm let me guess it isn't honda's fault, our our faults, so that jsut leaves you. Take better care of your bike. Maybe get it serviced every once in a while.

P.S. 155 is not wrecklessly fast. I did it in a safe area at a safe time. I'm sorry your bike has never gone above 100 until this time.

mikemirange....have a brew or some jib-jib man you seem tense, most likely just disruption in the bikes geometry not lack of maintenance...

mirage reminds of those people destroying their bikes from stunting at above 100 all the time, just to get an ego boost, next thing you know they get a pity-boost from the RN's using pigs balls to patch up your ballsack

its not cool to argue online..havent you heard that one saying:

competing in the special olympics is just like arguing in a chat room, it doesnt matter if you win or lose, you're still retarded.

:::no offense to the mentally impaired:::

so be cool...you guys all ride..were on the same team...its all in good fun...so why put someone else down because they experienced something you have not. just ride..be safe...cruise or stunt...whatever floats your boat...just be cool.

Listen ddvs, there always going to be this kind of people around, so don't pay too much attention to what they say, because at the end it comes down
to who is contributing and who is not. In forums you have two kinds of people:
1- The ones that join because they want to be part of a "community" and contribute by sharing their vast knowlege with the rest of the members and offer CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM (which is not the case in this thread)
2- The ones that join just to flame becasue they attempt to assert their authority, or establish a position of superiority meanwhile have no intention to be constructive to further clarify a discussion, or to persuade other people.

Therefore the motive for flaming is often not dialectic, but rather social or psychological (ie: not loved by their parents and/or rejected by society, low self esteem, shy around beautiful women.... the list is very long). In this case the "2 thumb sucking wimps wanna be flamers", wish to upset and offend you and other members of the forum, in which case they are trolls

As far as the moral of the story, you are right about getting a stabilizer and leathers ( as another CONTRIBUTING member suggested). If you care to know I have a Scotts damper and I'm glad to say that it saved me many times from getting "slapped"

PS: I edited this message twice because I had to omit certain words that I'm sure would have resulted in my "24Hour suspension". It's just that I'm sick and tired of flamers, as far as I'm concerned they should get the BOOT
