ORIGINAL: Evan_CBR Anyway, I started a similar thread about 6 weeks ago, but I had already bought my CBR1000 and wanted some advice while I was waiting for it to be delivered. What a firestorm...with some folk not knowing how to let go when soemeone chooses a different route than what they think it should be. If you already bought your CBR1000RR, why were you interested in someone else's advice? If I walk into an icecream shop, buy a bowl of pistachio icecream, and turn around and ask everyone in the room what I "should have" gotten, I'd make a pretty good guess that almost none of them are going to agree with me. I'd have started an instant flamewar right there in the store! Dude, unless you've got years of experience, when someone else asks for advice here, let the experienced people answer. yellow, evan isn't the one that started this post, it was mark, evan was in one of the last posts like this, back in june before he bought his bike....texASS was riding him hard about the bike....and really maybe evan does have more pertinent input than us, seeing as I really can't speak for what its like to be a novice and buy a 1krr as my first bike, but he can, and he has mananged to keep it on two wheels. I think you can agree that the 1krr is a great mount, and IMO its one of the best all around ones out there...its not as edgy as the zx10r or the gixer, and is very stable....leave it to someone like zzz's to talk trash about hesd when his bike doesn't have one....any way, you'll always find me sticking up for our fellow riders; i am a firm believer in encouraging people to join our sport and do so responsibly, and unlike some I don't necessarily think that which bike you buy makes you responsible, it's how you ride it.

I hear ya, AZ. S'good. BTW, why would the HESD be pertinent to the purchase choice a newbie makes? If they're a newbie going fast enough to feel the HESD, they're in trouble right there, I'd say. I won't be going fast enough to feel it myself until I'm on the racetrack this fall.

actually the hesd kicks in pretty early, you can feel it at normal highway speeds; I am personally about done with it....it really takes away from the cornering; i rode a friends with the scotts rotary on it and i tell you what...back it off a bit and hit the twisties, his bike handles much more like a 600rr than a 1krr....might be worth the $450

I really haven't noticed it myself. Even between 70 and 85mph I'm only feeling the resistance of the gyroscopic effect off the front tire. When I force oscillations(sp?) from the bars it feels like any other bike I've ridden at those speeds (without damping). Anyway, I'll see more this fall.

i think you will, you can notice the difference; you know how easy your handle bars are to turn slow, the main reason they are stiffer at speed is the hesd; if you do any serious twisty riding, it can be a pain...especially when the hard right is followed by an immediate hard left.....the hesd really is great to keep the bike stable at speed with going straight, but would be better if it were adjustable...

If you read enough of them, you would not be asking questions that they have already addressed. Your accusation is just a lame distraction from your inability to read before you make irrelevant correlations. You need to "care a little more" if you plan to make posts based on things you then later act as is if you don't care all that much about. Quit, while you are "behind"....,sir.

wow...such information in this single thread! at least 50% of it is filled with great info, the other is filled with whatevers... a new liter bike can hurt you just as fast as a new 600 these days...just know that with the liter, your margin for error, especially as it comes with power related issues, throttle control, etc...is much less than a 600...so just consider these things when you are ready to buy. now it comes down to this...you get a rider who starts on a 1K and measure his/her progression vs. someone on a 600 or smaller...taking the same roads each day, etc...you will find that the one on the smaller bike will progress much faster. so as far as handling, the 600 or smaller will be better for a new rider. whatever you get, just be very careful...and for the things that are just out of your control...just make sure you're geared up...such as oil in the road in a turn, unseen gravel, animals and other critters...hot chicks running out nekked to jump on you, etc. so from this and the rest of the posts...make a choice that's right for you...and i don't mean which bike is 'best' but which one suits you...cause there are lots of squids out there on liter bikes and it just looks horrible when they get eaten up by an old skool f4i...and others who start on the liter and then sell it cause they can't keep up changing their panties, and others who ride liter bikes and brag about it but can't ride worth crap...all started on liter bikes...but again...you have the same for 600s too! armadillo does have good intention, but was just a bit too opinionated...just as some of the others...but hey, you're always gonna get that right? t

You just keep on making my point for me with every post of yours. I don't need the last word here. You're making it for me. And the hilarious irony is you don't even realize it. Who care's if you do or don't. I sure don't. Go whine to someone else.
