Anyone ever wired a set of 99 gauges to 96-97 wire harness. I'm 75% there, i've got all the backlights, turnsignals, tach, odometer, oil, neutral .. My temp goes right to 270 and just flashes and my speedo doesn't work. Has anyone done this before and if so do you know what each pin is to connect to on the 99 gauge.

anyone with a 98-99 900rr want to go out and write down the wires that go into each plug? Should be 4 and 4 on the top. then the bottom row of 12. There are probably only 14 wires plugged into it.

I too am interested in the pinout for the 98-99 gauge cluster. If anyone has it—or preferable the plug—I’m interested. Regarding your problem, the 98-99 blades used speedo sender that bolts into the gearbox. I think the early models used a different system. You might be able to fix your speedo problem with a YellowBox or SpeedoHealer. With your water temp issue, it sounds like the early models used a different water temp sender. You probably need the 98-99 sender ($50 from Honda). On the 919, the water temp sender bolts into the head, just behind the water pump. Yours is probably different. I suppose that worse case you can tap into the radiator and put the sender in there. But why bother going through all this trouble for the 99 gauge cluster? It doesn’t seem much better than the 97 down. --Chris

i just did it because i found the gauges for cheap. my bike is a 95 with the newer motor in it from a 97-99. I assumed it had a 98-99 wireing harness and didn't know the plugs were different at the time. These are the wire colors someone gave me. looking at the harness pluged into the back of the guages from left to right starting at the top : nothing nothing green with black stripe nothing nothing nothing yellow with green stripe pink with green stripe pale green with red stripe blue with green stripe red black with a creamish / silverish stripe bottom row of holes from left to right looking at the back of th guages : green yellow dark blue light blue (cyan) blue with red stripe nothing brown green
