the reason i ask is i was out at a b-day party last night at the hard rock cafe and had my helmet with me. well to make a long story short one of the waitress asked who owned the bike? so we started talking and she said she had a gsxr 1000,and she told me she had been up to 237 mph on it. was she full of it ? cause if so she has a bigger set of balls than i do....lol

I pretty sure all new bikes in stock configuration are limited to 188 mph. I could be wrong though.

The new gsxr1000 is actually the first bike to break the sound barrier. It'll do mach 1.247 but you have to cut the yellow and blue wire on the ecu to remove the stock speed limiter.

Did you know that Webster's removed the word gullible from the dictionary?

I really hope you are joking...there is no way in hell a gsxr 1000 is gonna do 237 unless it has a gang load of stuff done to it and it would not be a bike that some waitress would be riding.

I've learned to never say never ... but I highly doubt her gixxer1K will do 237mph. Takes a lot of ponies to do that kind of speed without some serious aerodynamics. The gixxer doesn't slip and slide through the air like a busa, zx12 or zx14. Even with 300+ hp acceleration over 200mph was a bitch on my old busa -- just so much wind resistance it's unbelievable.

i think that is close to the top speed record set on a stock street bike, but that was on a Hyabusa...not a gixxer

Do the conversion for KPH to MPH, then you have the true story. Maybe 140

Even if you had the HP to push the bike that fast, I would think that such a light bike with such a short wheelbase would not be stable at that speed.

That the wackiest comment ever, all of them actually.
Over 200 mph equal a sudden lift off for a bike. It will be too difficult to keep a 370 pound bike down at those speeds. Unless you are a 500 lb rider may be you can pull that off. Fatty!!

Anything over 170 and the speedo goes nuts not accurate at all.
