with the wet system, or if you want to run high boost w/ a turbo setup, you will want to look into forged pistons, rods, crank, valves. basically anything in your engine that moves will need to be stronger, it could get expensive real fast, but it makes for a hell of an engine if its done right. also, your engine cooling system will need to be upgraded, possibly you could get away with just using a larger size radiator. but with just the dry shot, or a casual, low boost turbo setup, stock would be fine.

Didn't mean to offend the quick-wristed straight-liners but...

a. takes a lot less talent to roll fast off the line and pin the throttle than it does to apex a decreasing radius, downhill corner at full lean.

b. Taking a bike designed to be flicked through twisties and modifying it to go fast in a straight line is like chemically breaking down bubble gum, adding nitrogen, and chemically rebonding it to make plastique. It's pointless, it's never going to be as good as the real thing. If you wanna be fast on the drag strip then buy a liter bike or a 'busa/zx-14.

Don't get on here again with 30 posts and say it takes less talent to do the 1/4mile until you post up a picture of your personal 8sec time slip. They are different kinds of racing/riding all of which take tremendous talent to do well. I've done both and I'm not all that great at any of it ... it's fun going out there and trying though.

maxwell139 -> RE: TURBO (7/29/2006 4:25:07 PM)

I dont want to talk about nitrous becuase thats not what i want. I want to be able to put a turbo on my 600rr. Thats becasue everybody that lives around me got 600s and i just want a 600 that nobody got.I just want ot beable to kill 600s around here.

and ryuu600 your full of bull!!

maxwell139 -> RE: TURBO (7/29/2006 4:30:28 PM)

I dont want to run like 8 9 pounds of boost i just want a simple system that would be safe and then down the road if i wanted to run more boost i could.So i would like to know what parts i would need for a simple setup but i would not need to buy them again to run more boost.

chainstretcher -> RE: TURBO (7/29/2006 4:47:26 PM)

I built a system for a Busa and it was a pain. And there are kits for Busa's all over the place. Building one for a 600 is gonna be extremely difficult. Your best bet is to find a kit that puts out 4-6# of boost. This would still keep your engine reliable and would have the turbo, plenum, and blowoff valve. Try searching the net -- maybe even e-bay. I know Mr. Turbo has a lot of systems -- I didn't like them for the busa (I wanted mondo power, arrrrrrrh arrrrrrrrh arrrrrrrrh) but I seem to remember they had some kits for smaller bikes.

DThompson -> RE: TURBO (7/29/2006 9:07:19 PM)

That turbo looks like they put a stock TD05 Turbo from a G54B engine on a bike. Seriously that looks almost exactly the same as a mitsubishi turbo.

Oh and by the way. Im FLAMIN this thread right now!!!!!

nkx -> RE: TURBO (7/30/2006 6:22:05 PM)

if youre going to turbo your 600, youll have to find a small turbo, or else it will take a long time to spool up. the high compression that these bikes come with from the factory is not going to agree with boost (5-7 psi max) unless you lower the compression (new stronger crank, pistions, rods, etc). if you dont, detonation will destroy your motor, and youll just be rebuilding it again. if you dont lower the compression, you might be able to get by and not detonate if you run race gas. the cooling system as others have said will need an upgrade too, because you wont have room for an intercooler.

maxwell139 -> RE: TURBO (7/30/2006 8:12:29 PM)

So what kind of turbo would you suggest??

Fretless33 -> RE: TURBO (7/30/2006 8:21:03 PM)

Next thread by maxwell139: Turbo, NOS and a jet engine on a 600

"I installed the turbo on my bike and I still can't kill the 600's in my neighborhood, so now I'm installing NOS and a jet engine...does any one know how to do this?" [:D]

Jut kidding, have fun and let us know how this turbo quest goes [;)]
