KameleonF4i -> RE: TURBO (9/7/2006 11:02:05 PM)

i emailed them a couple weeks ago and they said they can/will make a front mount for the F4i and itll produce 140whp at i think 5 lbs of boost. [;)]

turbof4i -> RE: TURBO (9/8/2006 10:57:58 AM)

i would ask them to produce it first, then tell them to show you a dyno chart to prove it. i wouldnt want a company that just slaps a turbo under the tail and calls it a day to work on my bike. im not bad mouthing them but i think a companys products speak for themselves. i dont reccommend building a turbo kit to anyone who is asking about it. i have to agree with blackdog in that if you are aksing how hard it is to do, then it is definately way over your head. if you have experience in turbocharging, the project is about an 8 to complete. there are a lot of components that need modified, moved, or removed for a front mount to work on an f4i. i just dont understand if they COULD produce a front mount kit, why didnt they just do that in the first place? just my thoughts.

maxwell139 -> RE: TURBO (9/11/2006 3:00:45 PM)

yes man iv been readin this book i got and its everthing about a turbo and how to install it i just wanted some advice of how hard it was goin to be.. and no i have no experince with installin a turbo but everyone got to start some were!!

maxwell139 -> RE: TURBO (9/11/2006 5:02:45 PM)

Also, Could I get a mod to clean this thread of the usless posts? Thanks a lot. To Turbof4i: I'm probably gonna keep it reasonable around 4 or 5lbs and I'd like to have something that spools around 7 or 8g so I can drive the bike normally and have the extra power higher in the rev range. My guess is that a T25 would be a good match. I'm still learning all about it so I'd ask that you could bare with me. Another thing, is there any reason to go with an extrenal wastegate? And I saw that one of the sites above lists a turbo kit and the BOV is optional. Wouldn't you get severe compresser surge without a BOV?
Thanks to those who actually care enough to try and help me out, it's appreciated.

turbof4i -> RE: TURBO (9/11/2006 5:35:54 PM)

you definately are going to want a BOV. yes you are correct it will definately have compressor surge. i dont reccommend building a kit yourself because it is a pain to fabricate the manifold from scratch. on my bike i had to move the oil filter which needed special fittings, and radiator. before you start ask yourself if you would attempt to turbocharge your daily driver yourself and if the answer is no, then i wouldnt try your bike. if you must turbo your bike yourself at least take it to a professional for dyno tuning. it is VERY important that you dont run your bike without PC tuning. the turbo map is nothing like an n/a map. a t-25 is going to be kind of laggy for a 600. it will spool late and then come on violenty up top. if you can find slightly smaller it would be better for driveability and fitment. trust me there is NO extra room on these bikes after a turbo is on there. you may experience radiator fittment issues. im just getting mine worked out. it is in the stock location but the bottom is closer to the tire and can rub the tire under hard braking because my bike is lowered like 3".

turbof4i -> RE: TURBO (9/11/2006 5:38:23 PM)

also internal wastegate is the way to go for low boost situations. a lot easier because it comes built into the turbo and you dont have to fabricate something extra that is not needed.

maxwell139 -> RE: TURBO (9/11/2006 10:22:04 PM)

so where should i get a kit too then??

Once again alomost every1 answers the question that is not asked, he didnt ask if he should do it, or if it is stupid, or he if should just get a diff bike, He asked 4 questions stated above that alot of ppl must of missed and made up there own questions in there heads, i dunno why ppl do that its stupid just let him do what he wants and try to help him out dont tell him to not do it or its "squidly" behavior its his bike,money and life if he wants to do it, i say do it. Im sry i cant help any just irritates me when ppl decide they cant help u at all so they just post a comment sayin not to do it. i wasnt goin to post cause like i said i have no advice on the subject but cant stand how ppl make up there own questions and answer them and avoid ur question for the most part. So even if he has been ridin for 20yrs and wants to put a turbo on his bike is that "squidly" of him, i think if u guys are worried that he might kill himself because of some extra HP then u might as well tell ppl to not even get a bike, i think that is what i will do next time i see a post on "what bike should i buy" ill tell him/her not to, they could kill themselves on it u could die in ur sleep so u might as well have as much fun as u can while ur here so bla bla bla to all of our dads on here. Now alot of u are kool and have good advice just some ppl dont know how to answer the questions stated but give there own personal opinion on the subject kinda like me but in a diff. manner.some ppl really give good answers but 75% of the posts are useless here like mine. I know someone will have an "INTELLIGENT" comment to this but owell i dont care what u say thats my rant. [sm=bangbang.gif] [sm=rant.gif]

Sry for yet another useless post just wanted to get that off my chest after readin the comments. I say if u can find a way to do it then Do It man. wish i could help.[;)]

D2VW14_20 -> RE: TURBO (9/12/2006 4:42:40 PM)

Hey, doesnt bother me!!! People who usual complain about it no being on topic with the OP are the ones who are off the OP.! (not all)

turbof4i -> RE: TURBO (9/12/2006 5:28:52 PM)

i would love to build a kit for the rr and even 1000rr but i dont have the bikes to test fit with right now. when i get bored with the f4i i will probably sell it and get a 1000rr to play with. if anyone local to Ocean City, MD wants a turbo rr i could build it for them at a very reasonable price to have a kit to work off of. this would help everyone who wants a turbo get it in a "kit". the only thing is they would be without a bike for a few months while i got everything worked out. i can reproduce an f4i kit fairly quick because i already have all the details worked out but an rr kit i would be starting fom scratch again. i can answer any general questions about the f4i kit. if you want to attempt this yourself (which i suggest you dont), i will help you all i can.

maxwell139 -> RE: TURBO (9/13/2006 11:31:02 PM)

sure i would send you my bike lol

maxwell139 -> RE: TURBO (9/15/2006 10:03:44 AM)

what kind of turbo do u have on your f4i??

turbof4i -> RE: TURBO (9/15/2006 12:02:54 PM)

its an ihi vj11 which is slihtly smaller than a t25.
