Hey everyone...I'm new to this forum but i've been reading posts for a while now...I just picked up my new bike an '03 954...I've been having some trouble getting back into turning...I had a 03 cbr600 as my first bike and was pretty accomplished on it...I laid it down in a turn went in to hot...was almost draggin the pegs, and just couldn't pull through it...The bike wasn't that bad but i have this problem turning now...it's almost like i completely forgot how to turn, if anyone could give me some tips on how to get back into the twisties i would appreciate it.

NICE bike.. take it slow and fine some low traffic turns and take them.. slower and then increase your speed a little more and more everytime u go and get back into the swings of things, good luck ! remember the gear

agree...just take your time with it in a slow/low traffic area.

i have a buddy who went down while trying to wheelie and now he has the same issue. to me seems like he's thinking about it too much instead of concentrating on what happening at the moment. straight, he hits it, but when it comes to those curves and wheelies you can forget it. we normally ride in an area with lots of curves, but low traffic and he's getting better each time. to sum it up, i guess it just takes time. the roads and curves will always be there.

sweet bike. i have the same one, same color, same year.

Fear isn't always a bad thing... especially in the subsequent dumping of your 600 and upgrading to a 954. As the other guys said... take it easy. You just need to get comfortable on your new bike... it has a lot more power throughout the RPM range so make sure you're not in low gears (1st or 2nd) around sweeping turns. Your confidence will come back... just remember not to ride over your head and keep a pace you feel comfortable at, not what your buddies set.

another idea, upshift before a turn, ( while your trying to learn more) because it will bring your throttle power down a bit and u dont have to worry as much about comming out of the throttle, just an idea if u feel comfortable

Welcome to the liter world, and very nice bike BTW.
I am just coming back into to the sport bike world after a three year cruiser mistake. I have found I need to bend my elbows a bit and lower my lead shoulder which puts the body back into a cornering posture. Between thinking too much and riding stiff, the second I break the elbow a bit I am flying through the corner like I used to. (Well as close as I care to now.)

It's stupid, but I have to say it...

Make sure your tires are properly inflated. I thought mine were ok, but come to find out, they were about 10lbs low. I can't believe the difference it made.
I have learned my lesson on checking my tires more often...Good luck
