Depending on what type of boot you're looking for you might be interested in the Joe Rocket Revolution boot.

They're not as expensive as some, waterproof (a huge plus), comfortable, and offer better protection than a normal walking boot. I also like them because they're not flashy... plain as you can get for the style. They have stiff padding inside of the shin, ankle and are comfortable to walk in.

Cons? These are not race boots... they're touring/sporttouring boots - they don't have replaceable toe sliders and they don't have solid armour around them.

Here are some reviews:
http://www.motorcyclegearreview.com/reviews.php?prodID=341

I've had mine 3 years now and put ~30,000km's on them. I have not experienced the negative things some of the reviewers have - I have a feeling JR can have a few lemons... for that reason I'd buy from a dealer or a company with a good return policy. I personally would buy them again - no question - but the reviews aren't as glowing as I would give. Try a pair on. You do get what you pay for... and again remember these are not race boots - these are supposed to be everyday comfortable touring/sport touring boots.

I live in a cooler climate, but even when I was in NY I didn't find them hot... the hot part was the pants not the boots.

i have the smx plus also. i crash tested them and nothing broken. only bad thing that happened was when i was flying around i some how popped up on my feet. it hurt like hell on my heel. but i'm sure the force of the impact would've bruised my heel no matter what boot i was wearing.

i tried the sidis and they are cool. but a little too expensive for me. i tried the vertebra and thought that it would be a little soft. the vertigos came out after i got my boots so it was too late for those. i went with the smx's because i have ankle problems because of sports and was afraid the soft boot wouldn't protect me as well.

either way you can't go wrong with those. heard good things about oxtar and teknic boots too.

I wear the Alpinestar SMX-R. It is very nice boot. I also would highly recommend the Sidi boots. You can't go wrong with Alpinestar or Sidi.

Everday boots....Icon Motorheads....great boots and look good with jeans, and you can wear them around, pretty comfy

Full Leather Day.....Alpinestar SMX-R Plus/vented......very nice, not good for walking around too far.....but great for riding,

not trying to be an ass or anything, but why would you spend money on non-racing boots? i'm just curious.

i'm not a rich guy so if i am going to be shelling out cash on some boots to ride in, i'd get race boots. i used to commute to work in them. i left a pair at work and changed them out. so i didn't have to worry about matching with my work clothes or people looking at me funny.

if you're looking at boots, then you're probably looking for protection on your feet. and the best protection you're going to get will be with race boots right? and if you ever go to a track later you will have the race boots already. if you get icon boots and decide to track later, you'll have to pick up another pair of race boots later. i don't know...just my opinion.

stop with the gaming friendship on here meng!
next you know people will be busting their dating profile in this thread!

my sidis are beat up and purrrfect...they protect awesome, my feet are flat and a bit wide, they they are fine.
one thing i didn't like about the SMX was the floating heal...and i think yipperz that's what made your heel hurt when you crashed.

i used to wear my sidis everywhere but now i don't...because the treads are wearing out...

i used to wear them hiking, playing basketball, etc...great ankle protection, but killed my hops...my vertical went from 10" to 0"...

i've just about worn the tops out of my alpinestar goretex boots. They've done 4 years and 40,000 miles ( most of which has been done on my bike) mega comfy, waterproff and good protection. ( had an off in that time too) will be buying another pair ( sometime in the next 10 years :) )

obviously this thread is way old, but I have another suggestion. I am not into the power ranger boots myself and I didn't want something with a HD emblem either. But I wanted something similar to a military boot with a lug sole and motorcycle features. I found a company called Altberg in the UK. I ordered the and All weather hog light in 2000. They are hand made and took nearly four months to get but hands down the best boot I ever slid my foot into. Comfortable out of the box and ready to wear all day riding or not. Completely water proof. I am going on six years and 70K miles and riding all year. Being a UK boot they do get a little warm during the hundred degree days, but what doesn't.

www.altberg.co.uk

They are (were) about 140 with the exchange rate and shipping.

I have the Sidi Vertigo Race Boots and I love them. Light, comfortable, good protection, and great quality. I also have a friend that wears Sidi & feels the same. Check them out at New Enough.

The man has these and loves them!

+1 on Alpinestar SMX boots. They were my first pair of boots and I couldn't be happier with them. I wore them around for 2 days when I first got them for break in, never hurt and couldn't really tell I had on riding boots
