Though I like the Sprint, for just a bit more one can get an FJR which is a much better bike IMHO.
The VFR is a nice bike too, but the latest generation has that stupid VTEC, which suck big time. The early generation VFR is a sweetheart though.
Blackbird is nice, but it's getting long in the tooth and not available new in the states any longer. It's actually lighter then the CBR1000f but has a longer wheelbase.

How about a nice new VFR 1000 Non Vtec, with factory hard bags and ABS?!?!?!?!?!?

I want my next bike to be a speed triple, but i reckon it's going to be about a 2010 model :) If the trade in price is poop, I'll hold onto the cbr

Funny, we all seem to have roughly the same tastes...

My list:

06 Sprint ST (but WAY to expensive)
late model VFR 800
New BMW 800 ST
00-03 XX 'bird
04 Ducati Multistrada 1000
06 Kawi zx-14

I agree with Captain Obvious, the ultimate would be a VFR 1000 fully decked out. I was just saying this to the local Honda dealer yesterday.

I still love my Hurricane, but can't help dreaming. I tried the Blackbird, and it has a SUPER smooth engine, but I didn't like the overall riding position. A bit to cramped up for my 190 cm... Now I have to try the ZZR 1200, which has got some very good rewievs in american and british motorcykle magazines. It should have a better riding position, be faster on a quatermile, and have more torquey engine. But the super smooth engine It doesn't have...

If interested here is an artikle with a shoot out between the Blackbird and ZZR 1200

http://www.motorcycle.com/mo/mccompare/02xxzzr.motml'

And another test of the ZZR 1200
http://www.motorbikestoday.com/reviews/Articles/ZZR1200.htm

The way I see things, this bike may be the perfect bike to replace the Hurricane in a distant future. Thinking it sounds like a Hurricane with 160 bhp...

My brother has the ZZR1200. The front end is to light and washes out in the turns when power is on. It does not have the Honda finish.

My brother keeps looking at my bike and saying that if he could find a bike like mine he would trade. He is an engineer and doesn't like some of the things that Kawie does.

hmm... Interesting. I know the Kwak has one big flaw. It's not a Honda

What are the things your brother don't like that Kawasaki does ?

Hey TimBucTwo does your bro live in upstate as well. I use to live in Manlius and Caz, I still visit the area once and a while. Hey if your brother is serious about getting a CBR1000F, I'm putting mine up for sale this weekend it's all decked out for touring.

We are both west of Schenectady. He had a 600 Hurricane at one time and wishes he didn't get rid of it. He has had Hondas and then went to the ZRX1100 and then to the ZZR1200. He wants to go back to Honda. He told me that he is not happy with the finish. Paint and chrome parts are not to Honda specs.

He burned his leg on the exhaust pipe and then asked me where I got my heat shields. I look at him and said three words; "it's a Honda”, letting him know it comes that way.

The ZZR has plenty of power and comes up easy, a trait he doesn’t like in the twisties.
I guess that is a personal preference as to power and weight ratio and how it is used.
He doesn’t like the way it fits either, even with the Corbin seat.

He also says that Kawasaki did things that look to him as if they were an after thought, such as packing the electronic goodies in the left side faring.

He will keep it for now but says that there is something better out there.

The thing to look for is if the green machine will make a sport-touring version of the ZX14. To stay competitive with the FJR1300 and ST1300 the green machine will need to bag the ZX14. There are rumors about a shafted bagger. Still not a Honda but interesting.

I was looking at the FJR till I rode with a guy and I pulled away from him at 130mph and by 150mph he was moving in the wrong way.. I just could not keep up and at 145 its toped out.. Not that I am some kind of speed deamond but I want to crack the 150 mark when I can/want.

The FJR 1300 should possibly pull slightly stronger than the Hurricane, is that what you mean it did?

Get on the kaw owners forums... the only reason I'm not really considering a bigg'n ( no, I love puke green) Is all the troubles w.'em drop'n circlips in the gearbox, lock'n it solid... Yike's !!!!!!!!!!!

'Busa's (pre 03) blow up starters, fracturing cases... because of low batterys !!!!!!!!!!! schnitz racing, even makes a "frag" cover for the starter. It's a spendy fix, for cases... and zook, does there best to say" awe shucks" not my problem !!!!!!!!

I love forums, to find out the straight skinny on recalls and typical design problems per model/ brand. Clean and free, Ripp'n

The reason why I'm asking all these questions about the other bikes is, that I'm sick and tired about the ratteling from that CBR engine.
I have replaced the CC and CCT without result. My mechanic says it most likely is the chain on the generator, and it will cost me 1700 USD to fix, and then it isn't even sure thet the ratteling will disappear.
Right now my consideration is wether or not it is worth using 1700 USD on a 11 year old bike, instead of just buying a newer bike, like the ZZR. I can't figure out if the CBR really is worth all that money... The problem is that I really like the this bike.

One thing is for sure, I can't live with ratteling sounds from the engine, even if they don't mean anything!!!

Bad to hear Noe, I remember your bike has a low milage to. Wasn't it just below a very low rpm you noticed the rattle, has it moved up in rpm so it can be heared during normal driving, and does it rattle also when it is idling?

Changed the front gear on Bbird today from 17 to 16 teeth, I was unpleased with the over-gear feeling on 6th gear. It doesn't matter if it runs 275 instead 290 km/h, the enginge character and general feeling is more important since one is so close to a bike in several aspects.

Does the rattle change when you pull in the clutch, at idle in nutral?
