hey guys i have an 01 F4i and i am starting to do wheelies a little more then i used to. i used to get it up in first gear at about 8k rpms, but i recently installed a K&N air filter and am now having to rev it up to about 10k rpms to get it to come up a good height. any suggestions?

does you bike have noticeably less power now?

if not then its all in your head and your probably not doing something the same as you used to. Maybe your not slipping the clutch as hard as you used too or your sitting differently....that'd be my guess

thats a possibility. i used to do wheelies every once and a while, then i quit for a few weeks. now i am doing them again and maybe i just need to get used to them again. i tried a couple today and noticed i keep pushing them down when they come up cause of the way i am sitting. maybe its all just a mental thing. bike seems to have same amount of power, so i am guessing its just mental.

Shouldnt have to clutch it at all in 1st.

go.
let off the throttle all the way.
get right back on it WOT and it should come up at pretty much any RPM.

If youre going for slower wheelies to ride for a little while, I'd say maybe clutch it to 6 or 7.

i get rollin until i get in the bikes powerband (when the trottle gets peppy... around 3500rpm @ 12-15mph)

then i just barely roll on the throttle and pop the clutch at the same time... comes up to bp at maybe 6000-7000rpm (based that figure on motor noise) then i cruise bp out at 30mph until i either get tired of goin slow or until i start to get off balence so ill let the front end come down just a tad and pull on some throttle then ride 1st gear out to about 13k

ive actually shifted into 2 b4 on accident when i was comming down, just cause its habbit to shift when i hear the motor hit that point and the landing was actually pretty smooth

u just gotta get the feel for the clutch again, just practice a few times, b4 u try to hold it up so u get the feel for the throttle response again
