I've been surprised how many people want to flame you when you mention speed in this forum.  It's as if people are offended when someone tells them they went fast/broke the law or whatever on your SPORT bike.  C'mon folks, we didn't climb on these things because we want the mini-van life.  (btw, my other car IS a Chevy Astro Van...hey, my name is Dorkbiker :P)

Still, I think it's funny how impressed some are with their ability to duck behind a windscreen and wind a bike out.  But then I'm still confused as to why the wheelie guys are so impressed with themselves...I was watching some motocross the other day and thinking, "look, Stewart is doing a wheelie down the straight, guess he's a
"stuntrider.  Oh wow, he just jumped a big triple, guess that's a stunt too.  Wonder if he'll make an EXTREME video and start thinking of himself as a radical outlaw."

Mostly, I think it's the utes newbie enthusiasm I find funny.  But hey, I was once a popcorn fart on an XR75 trying to wheelie and getting all excited when I made my first foray into the air on that bike.  My first jump was off a big pile of cow pies.  I still smile thinking how excited i was to get air off a pile of poo.

Some of you people on here really bother me. TAHOE do you think the canuck was bragging, if so, who cares? How does it affect ur life? So the kid went 150mph, so what. This is a CBR forum, CBR's are fast, all you people who get all over the kids case probably shouldnt be driving CBR's. I mean come on now, you get them for 3 reasons, there fast, they look good and chicks dig em. Im not condoning driving 150mph, nor saying its safe, but asking why do you people waste ur time to put the kid down and act like his father? If you got nothing good to say, dont say anything at all, period!

Fricking necroposters...

This isn't just some fatherly talk about the birds and the bees and how to stick it in. This is life and death and you are trying to justify ignorance. Do you see the picture of Tahoe's bike... on the track? There are places to go fast and public roads are not one of them. There was a comment about the minivan and, if I remember correctly, we've had a member or two who have seen what speed and the back of a minivan does or have felt the effects of the death of someone close. Look up ss954rr and tell me all about how I preach. Look at his myspace and all the messages from friends and loved ones and tell me again how I preach. Sorry, bud, but you should take your own advice and not say anything at all.

I know this is an old post but I just have to get this out……sorry in advance!     I like going fast...but who doesn’t? You can’t seriously tell me you bought a crotchrocket to ride 5 under the speed limit.  It takes responsibility to ride a motorcycle....and many.. MANY riders don’t have ANY!  Those are usually the ones who go down within the first couple months of having their bikes.  The same ones who try there first standup wheelie at 5pm on a major interstate the second day they own the bike and loop it.  Believe me….I’ve been down  going 60….I slid through an intersection with the bike on top of me for about 50 yards stopping a half an inch from a foot tall curb….its not fun. I am not saying I haven’t done 150+ (who hasn’t...or at least pushed their limits) cause I have.  I’m not proud of that…..I’m not bragging….I don’t think it’s cool.....I didn’t do it for the attention.  I did it because I was being irresponsible……..plain and simple.

I ride at a good pace. I consider myself a safe and responsible rider. I like twistys more than straights...I like learning something new about my bike and the streets every time I ride.  There is no skill in dumping 6th @ 160.  Wow 160.... pretty cool!  And then grandma silvertop talking on her cell phone looking in the mirror putting on her lipstick drifts into your lane……man, that’s pretty cool.  That could never happen!!  Yea….keep thinking that!   Just don’t forget to make sure your flip flops are on tight and your wife-beater is on secure!
You have to ride within your own limits ..don’t ever let other people tell you how to ride.  They might speak the truth, but people are going to do what they do….nothing can change that.  Sometimes it takes going down hard to open up your eyes and realize that maybe you should think about what you do before you do it.  I know its easy to crank It up too 150…..ANYONE CAN DO IT..YOUR NOT SPECIAL!!  Why don’t you go hit up some backroads and really learn how a bike is supposed to be operated?

Just always remember for one jackass rider there are five others who ride to ride….not to die.  We will be the ones shaking our heads riding by when we see you being loaded into the back of ambulance or cop car.

sigh

i think that before anyone becomes a member of this forum, they need to read this thread first:

http://www.cbrforum.com/m_283141/tm.htm

that way, they would think twice before posting stupid threads like this one.

I would encourage you ALL to read this and remember ss954rr

RIP again brother

he died 30 minutes after he created that thread.

well...since you didn't really have anything good to say either...maybe you shouldn't have posted?
more experienced riders have a responsibility of putting those who are 'dangerous' in check.
what if mofo does 150, loses it and hits someone you know? what then?

Mine only does 112mph (jap import) so you should at least be grateful the bike goes that fast !!!!!

Personally, speed on the track....(or when the road is empty and the police are in bed!)

More importantly, speed doesnt kill....

I hit 150 mph this morning on the 15 north before the 91 freeway on my way to work.

That's the fastest I've gone on this bike.

It felt like it will go faster. What's top speed on these bikes anyway??

Bad boy. That's illegal and you should be arrested. I'm calling the cops right now!!
