I can't believe I'm even bothering with you anymore. But since you probably went to work (if your not already retired) and asked your co-workers to give you some ammo because you're being made a fool of by some canadian mechanic on the internet or frantically dug out a book and/or racked your brain trying to come up with something I'll humour you. By the way, if there is anyone else on here that's thinking this is getting tired just let me know and I'll stop playing with this tool but since I'm bored I'll continue.

Over time/use "piston slap" will cause the engine bore to become "egg shaped" with more wear on the thrust side of the bore (and piston). It is more evident when the engine is cold because the piston expands when hot and will fit tighter in the bore and so there isn't as much room for the piston to move side to side or "slap" if you will. It is more common with inline engines because the con rod is almost directly over the crankshaft so when it fires the force of the explosion drives the piston not only down but sideways into the wall of the bore because of the rotation and location of the crank. A V-shaped engine isn't affected as much because the pistons are at an angle to the crank and so there isn't so much sideways force. I apologise to those of you that aren't familiar with engine configurations, I know my description is not very good but it's hard to describe without a visual aid and not really important to the answer anyway. Which is; "piston slap"/bore damage is not caused by running an engine cold the cold engine only amplifies an existing problem. The cause is usually engine wear (normal or otherwise) or by poorly matching pistons to bores when assembling the engine.

I'm not familiar with the term "cold seizure" is that a british term? Notice I admit when I don't know something, but if you tell me what it is I'll explain to you why it happens. How bout that?

Now it's my turn, I have a question for you.

What is it you're trying to prove anyway? The importance of using the proper coolant, we've already determined that. Or are you so insecure that you have to keep quizing me so eventually you can say "AHA! I told you guys I know something he doesn't know"? Or is it you're retired sitting at home feeling old and useless and want to prove you "still got it"? Well let me save you the trouble, I'm sure there is stuff you know that I don't but this isn't it and quite frankly I'm surprised that you are even arguing about this. Your trying to compare a specific application, the UK motorcycle race circuit engines and what they do to North American street use and there is no comparison. I am simply talking general engine theory and of course there are exceptions to the rule. I was only trying to give these guys the basics of engine cooling theory(in case they didn't already know) so they could draw their own conclussion. But for some reason you can't just let it go you keep coming back with "well what about this or that" who the hell cares! If someone asked a question because they didn't know and wanted help that's one thing but you're just trying to compete with me which is retarded. Instead of just saying "your a tosser" or "grow up silly boy" why don't you try explaining why I'm wrong in an intelligent way. If you know as much as you would lead us to believe that shouldn't be too difficult for you.

No problem Tahoe SC.

As you can see from mikequin's last post it was getting to be a waste of time anyway.

I know yipperzz retarded eh?

I just can't stand these guy's that think they know everything but when challenged all they can do is; call names, claim they've been doing it 20 something years so they must be right or say "oh yeah well what about this or that" and bring up some isolated example but never back up their claims with facts.

Sorry I got caught up in it guys.

So what did you use Rasco? I have used both W.W. and Engin Ice . I like E.Ice it seems to keep my bike and a cooler temp. And down here in FL sitting at a stop light in 90 sucks big time but my bike has been running about 20 below what it did befor I put E. Ice in.
