I agree with you about the elevation Loki. You just need to find the combination that works best for you and your conditions. My bike (before gearing change) would bounce up great between 55-70----but i wasn't as experienced with it. I had problems clutching my sitdowns, until i realized i was going TOO fast...it's all about how comfortable you are, and figuring out YOUR bike. No matter what, i guarantee that as soon as you get it up a few times, it'll quickly become second nature.

Seriously though, you should think about th -1/+2 conversion. It made a world of difference for me....600RR's are geared taller than most other bikes anyways.

thats the thing... I am sitting at -1 +2 lol... I think some of it is the fact that my bike hasnt been tuned via pcIII or anything since it had a slip on installed (jardine rt one) and I should be getting a new air filter for it soon... Im thinking the filter is probably just about choked out by now, so much dust around here and where I was back home.

I can get it up in first no problem, but im clutching it... i gotta bounce REAL good to power it up in first, and second just hasnt come to me yet. I gotta learn how to do stand ups so I can get that 2nd gear down.... all in due time... still waitin on my fork seals.....

ya i turn the bars a little when i bounce im gonna go practice practice practice

Thats why you should work on letting the bike do the work. Wait till you are a little more experienced before you try to bounce it IMO If you bounce it and have the bars turned a little and set it back down its gonna make for an exciting little ride. But just keep practicing

Funny thing, my first sport bike, 03 R6, I learned how to wheelie by strictly bouncing in 2nd. I then learned 1st gear powerups, stoppies and such. Anyways I did this cuase I didnt want to be hard on my clutch at all....I baby'ed her soo much. I've never heard anyone say bouncing isnt a good way to learn, but then again I never really researched wheelieing much more than what was best for the clutch.

Anyways, jesse maybe (or probably) totally correct but in my personal experience Im glad I learned bouncing first. Never had a problem with tank slappers or anything, just slowing worked my way up from not gettin the bike off the ground at all to full on BP. It helped me learn throttle controll a lot.

Im not recommending anything, just puttin my personal experience out there. BTW I havent gone down doing a wheelie, YET (but i dont do them much anymore on my RR). I did go down doing other things though.

Either way you do learn to do them should you choose to...take your time and progress slowly gettin higher and higher at a slow controlled pace.

The name of the game is practice....it took me an entire summer to get where i could ride out on the BP all the time and I rode every day practicing.

all i got to say is be careful with those wheelies that your havin trouble gettin up. dont let it frustrate you, cuz you will end up crankin the throttle too hard and loopin out like i did a couple days ago. and then youll be as frustrated as i am, cuz now i have no bike to ride, and not to mention a concussion.

I've been doing only first gear power wheelie. I've been comfy doing it every now and the to try to get the BP. But, now I'm tempted to do the 2nd gear stand up wheelie. My question is on what rpm do you bounce your cbr 600rr? And is it better to do it using the throttle power instead the cluch? I'm afraid when I bounce my right hand can't control the throttle.
Thanks for the help in advance

mmm iono i never look but that sounds about right

if youve never clutched it before and your paying attention to the rpm start around 7k... then give it more if you need it

i basiclly just yank the throttle and pop the clutch at the same time... then let off the throttle once i feel it come up close to bp

you can get it to come up in 2nd stock but it takes some work. the best way is to go staggard, left foot on back peg, right foot on front peg COVERING BREAK. just get rolling around 30mph, stand up staggard, and clutch it up. your going to have a much harder time getting it up in 2nd sitting down stock but it can be done. i have owned plenty of bikes and the RR's are harder to wheelie. i believe it is due to the unit pro link swing arm that was designed to keep the front end on the ground for track purposes. i went +7 on the rear sprocket w/ a 520 chain and they come up easy like they should. balance point on the RR is way up there, that is why you are not riding them out for a long time in 1st. hit BP in any gear and you can go for as long as you like.

Thanks for the info guy..I already know the technique to standup wheelie stagger...but I just haven't the guts to do it yet.
JVracer04 when you said you must use the back brake to hit the BP you mean only when you think you go to far then you hit the brake right?

if you're looking for the brake when you hit the bp, it's to late, keep it coverd at all times. When I started out, I started out in the parking lot, stock gearing on a 900rr, clutching it up from a dead stop stagerd stance. When I got comfortable with that I moved to a vacant street and started clutching from 20mph in second gear. I know it sounds all backwards, but the last thing I wanted to do was loop the bike going down the highway.
