Im clutching the shit out of it but im not standing and im not bouncing it at all im just sitting with my ass scooted back all the way. Does it matter how fast your going in first i pull them up at about 30 and i would think in second i would have to go faster so the revs dont drop as much when i dump the clutch.

Ill try that im going to go practice trying to get second gear up but it feels funny standing up clutching it and then trying to bounce it maybe if i try sitting down clutching and bouncing it and then standing up when it starts to rise ?

Stand staggered with your left foot on back peg and right foot covering the brake and it is so much easier..Standing on the front pegs clutching it up feels wierd..

Ha Ha that will be a head turner all by itself Riding around standing like that will do nothing for you, cause when the front tire comes up it feels completely different. Try sitdowns first, if you can't clutch 2nd sitting down you need more practice. It took me about 2 weeks to finally get the feel to be able to clutch 2nd sitting down. I wasn't trying to do it everyday, but working with it occasionally. Get the feel for sitting down first, then work on your staggered standups IMO The first one is going to feel weird and will probably be kinda wobbily but you'll get over that stage pretty quick. Before you go out let some air out of your tire, I'd suggest 25-28psi when its cold. Ok now go out and practice, you should be able to let the bike do all of the work for you, so don't try bouncing it quite yet, it might put you in a tankslapper or something -Jesse-

Wait till you are a little more experienced before you try to bounce it IMO If you bounce it and have the bars turned a little and set it back down its gonna make for an exciting little ride. But just keep practicing -Jesse-

A stock 600RR WILL clutch up in second. It is you, not the bike. It will come up in third standing, whether you prefer to clutch it, bounce it, or both, is up to you. And with enough practice, it will bounce up in 4th as well. Don't take any of this personal, it's not meant as a dig. It just seems like the question comes up alot, and people want to blame it on their bikes. And yeah, the vid of me bouncin it up in 5th is coming---the knee is finally all healed up!!! -Adam

I too am having troubles getting my bike up in second... stand, sit, bounce, jump up and down all I want.... it says no.... my brothers 636 does the same, and our friends f4i.... so there are a lot more factors to bring into it rather than "its just gotta be the rider... my bike does such and such..." Im not digging either... just trying to bring some light to those who keep telling me "its you, its you, its you".... some of it is yes.... but if you brought your bike up here and tried exactly what your doing now... its not gonna be even close.... there is a fellow member on these boards who just moved to denver, which is very close to my elevation.... his bike went from clutching 3rd/4th no problem to it hates second..... Edit: just searched and denver is about 1800 higher than me... but its the same concept ;)
