Anybody know where this number is located? The only numbers I found were near the exhaust and read SC21E-2006874...need to figure out the year of the engine as I don't have the bike but am looking to use this for a different bike...

thanks...

According to my manual the Hurricane engine with your VIN number states that it is an 1987, CBR1000F-H* model, Astix is whether it's an hurricane model or not . There are 3 models manufactured by Honda and listed all have silmilar engine numbers and the engine VIN number range for each one is as follows;

1) UK CBR1000F ; Engine VIN Model Range SC21E-2000033 to 2017564
2) US CBR1000F (*Hurricane) 49-State Model; Engine VIN Model Range SC21E-2000041 to 2016805
3) US CBR1000F (*Hurricane) Calaforina Model; Engine VIN Model Range SC21E-2000064 to 2014846

Hope this helps.
