PROBLEMS - engine dies during acceleration - HELP PLEASE - 9/11/2006 6:26:15 PM    MaxKid84 Posts: 93 Joined: 8/14/2006 Status: offline Hey guys, so lately when I accelerate briskly on the CBR the engine completely dies (and sometimes back fires) almost like I hit the kill switch. and it won't start back up for a few seconds after the oil light comes on. Sometimes I have to completely pull over to the shoulder to restart it. Please I need help with this. I doesn't seem like a wiring problem because everything works at idle and low speeds, but once I rip on it she just dies after a couple seconds. Seems like something isn't balanced correctly or like the pistons get "stuck". Lately I've been paying particular attention to letting the engine warm up before I take off. However the temp gauge never really gets all the way to the mid-range unless I'm in stop and go traffic for a long time. any help would be appreicated. thanks! Post #: 1

Everytime you are pulling on the throttle you are really just flooding the engine. You need to take a look at the carbs. Clean them, inspect the jets, and do a table sync. That would def cause it to run rich. I didn't think that it would cause the engine to completely stop though, thats just crazy. well I wasn't planning on doing this stuff till the off season, but if this keeps up I'll have to take a day and just get it done.
